Former UGA football player, NFL rookie proposes to long-time girlfriend

The second-round NFL Draft pick and L.A. Chargers football player announced his engagement over the weekend.

GORDON COUNTY, Ga. — It's official! Former University of Georgia football player Ladd McConkey put a ring on it and proposed to his long-time girlfriend over the weekend.

With a sweet sign and pictures, McConkey proposed on Saturday in front of luscious greenery and a big archway at a venue in northwest Georgia. It was a picture-perfect moment for the pair, who radiated love for one another.

"My person for life. Here's to the beginning of forever with my best friend," McConkey exclaimed.

His now fiancée, Sydney Horne, also took to social media and called it the best day of her life. The proposal happened at 2400 on the River, which is located in Gordon County.

"Yesterday was all I could ask for and more," Horne said in her post. "Here's to forever."

This is yet another major milestone for McConkey this year, as he was drafted in the second round for the NFL by the L.A. Chargers.

And Horne has been with him every step of the way -- from his journey to becoming a dominant Georgia Dawg to now his life as an NFL player.

The two have photos together as a couple dating back to their high school years. From homecoming dances to college football games, they've supported one another in their life journeys.

And now, they're heading toward one of the biggest journeys of all -- marriage.

Congratulations to the happy couple, and cheers to many more years together!
