Today is the World's Largest Swim Lesson Day.

This annual event takes place at aquatic facilities, including large waterparks, public pools, and swim schools across the country, to raise awareness about the crucial need to teach children how to swim.

Swimming is a life-saving skill for children and an essential measure to prevent drowning, which is the leading cause of death for U.S. children ages 1 to 4 and the second leading cause for ages 5 to 14. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, formal swimming lessons for children between the ages of 1 to 4 can reduce the risk of drowning by 88%.
