5 Georgia resorts make top 15 list of favorites in South

According to a new survey from Travel + Leisure, the resorts were rated based on rooms/facilities, location, service, food and value.

GEORGIA, USA — A new survey from Travel + Leisure ranked the top 15 favorite resorts in the South -- and the Peach State made the list five times.

According to the survey, the hotels were classified as resort hotels, city hotels, inns or safari lodges and rated based on rooms/facilities, location, service, food and value. 

In Georgia, The Lodge at Sea Island on St. Simons Island and The Lodge on Little St. Simons Island made the list at #3 and #4, respectively. 

The Cloister at Sea Island ranked #5  on the list, and The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee, in Greensboro, made the list at #6. 

Additionally, a metro Atlanta resort, Barnsley Resort in Adairsville, Georgia, took the #12 spot on the list.
