Forecast | Air Quality Alert in place with hot conditions Sunday

Hot conditions stick around into early next week with rain chances up mid-week.

ATLANTA —

Quick Forecast:

Saturday Night: Mostly clear and warm. Low: 75°
Sunday: Mostly sunny and hot. Few PM showers possible. High: 98°.
Monday: Rising humidity. Afternoon showers. High: 98°.

Discussion:

A Code Orange Air Quality Alert has been issued for Sunday.  The heat, low humidity, and clear skies will allow for ozone levels to quickly rise.  Air quality in the early afternoon and evening when ozone levels are the highest will be unsafe for sensitive groups.

This is the second day in a row we will have an Air Quality Alert as we also had one in place for Saturday.

For Saturday night, temperatures will fall to the mid 70s under a mostly clear sky.

Sunday will be another hot day with temperatures rising into the mid and upper 90s under a mostly sunny to partly cloudy sky with a less than 20% chance for rain.

We will continue with hot conditions on Monday with slightly higher humidity as temperatures sit in the 70s for lows and rise into the mid to upper 90s for highs under a mostly sunny to partly cloudy sky with a slight chance for rain.

Humidity continues to rise for Tuesday with lows in the 70s and highs in the mid to upper 90s under a partly cloudy sky with a few isolated showers possible. The increased humidity could lead to increased heat risk.

Rain chances continue to bump up for Wednesday through Saturday with scattered showers and storms possible each afternoon under a partly to mostly cloudy sky as lows sit in the 70s and highs rise into the 80s to 90s.

RELATED: Severe drought returns to Atlanta

North Georgia will get anywhere from one to three inches of rain throughout the next week which will help to push back the drought a bit. Much of the rain will occur for the end of this next week.
