Lamar Jackson finished as the fantasy QB3 in 2023 and had the third-highest per-game average. He missed some time in both 2021 and 2022, but had the eighth-highest and the fifth-highest per-game averages, respectively. His best season was back in 2019 when he finished as the QB1. Odell Beckham has moved on, but the Ravens are expecting Rashod Bateman to pick up the slack. HC John Harbaugh singled Bateman out as a player he expects to make a leap in 2024. Jackson should be a rock-solid top-five option at the position, but appears to lack the rushing touchdown upside with only 10 rushing scores in the last three seasons. Derrick Henry is now in the fold, so the Ravens don’t have much incentive to expose the 215-lb Jackson around the goal line.

John Harbaugh said the Ravens didn’t bring Derrick Henry to Baltimore with the plan to give him 30+ carries each game.

Fantasy Impact:

Jackson ran 16 times in Week 1 to Henry's 13. Zay Flowers had two runs with Hill getting just one. Hill was involved in the passing game with six catches, however. For what it's worth, Jackson missed practice Monday with no word form the team as to why, but it sounds like the Ravens don't play to change their offense. It remains to be seen if Jackson can handle that many runs a week going forward. It's possible Mitchell, upon his return at some point this season, could help out in the run game but he doesn't seem to be close to a return just yet.

Week 1 at Kansas City Chiefs
Lamar Jackson is one of the best fantasy pieces we have, even if the days of seven rushing TDs are behind him. His favorite receiving target, tight end Mark Andrews, is projected to head into this season fully healthy, while the addition of Derrick Henry should alleviate some of the pressure for the QB to create on his own. If any of the team's tertiary pieces —like former first-round pick Rashod Bateman— perform better than suspected, there's a chance Jackson climbs up to 4,000 yards passing for the first time in his career.
