A Queensland man has been charged with murder after the bodies of a married couple were found inside a burned Brisbane home.
Real estate salesman Joseph Stephan, 73 and his 68-year-old wife Christine were discovered dead inside their Hannant Street property in Collingwood Park, a suburb of Ipswich, on January 23.
The couple's black Mercedes Benz was missing, presumed stolen, and police investigating the incident later released CCTV of a man walking nearby streets who they believed could be involved in the alleged murders.
Police last night charged a 26-year-old Zillmere man with two counts of murder, arson and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
He is scheduled to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court today.
Detective Acting Superintendent Stephen Blanchfield thanked the community for their assistance, while appealing for any CCTV and dashcam footage of the black Mercedes recorded around the area on the date of the alleged murders.
"While the vehicle has been located, any information regarding its movements is of great importance to us while investigations are ongoing," Detective Acting Superintendent Blanchfield said.
The investigation is continuing.
