Queensland Premier Steven Miles has announced $79 flights to Cairns will be available to holidaymakers in a bid to revitalise tourism as the state's far north reels from the effects of recent severe weather.
The move is part of a $5 million package to support holiday operators following ex-tropical Cyclone Jasper and the recent flooding.
Miles said the package includes cut-price flights to Cairns through Qantas and Jetstar as well as discounted accommodation.
"Cairns and the state's Far North are global tourism icons," Miles said.
"They are fantastic places to visit.
"Now is a great opportunity for Australians who've thought about coming before or maybe have great memories of the time they did come here before.
"The Far North is open for business and we are looking forward to welcoming more tourists back to our beautiful part of the world."
Almost 1000 Energex workers are on the ground today working to restore electricity to households, some of which have not been connected since Boxing Day.
Many are expected to have their power reconnected by the weekend however this is weather dependent as storms are predicted for the afternoon.
A mammoth clean-up task lies ahead, which has been bolstered by the State Emergency Service (SES) and the Australian Defence Force personnel in recent days.

Meanwhile, Miles also defended his decision to not cut short a family holiday during the storms and flash floods, saying it only made a day's difference.
"A lot's been made of what was really just one day in the end," he said.
"The rest of the time – remember it's been more than three weeks since tropical Cyclone Jasper crossed the coast near where I am here in Cairns – the rest of the time I've been on the ground in Cairns and then in the Gold Coast, Logan, Scenic Rim, all of the affected areas.
"I was available on the phone throughout that entire day. Indeed, I was in constant contact, much to the frustration of my nine-year-old."
