Woman killed by train at Sydney station

A woman has died after she was hit by a train in western Sydney yesterday.
The 52-year-old woman was fatally struck by a citybound train at Punchbowl Train Station at about 3.30pm.
The woman climbed onto the track at platform one to retrieve something she'd dropped, police were told.

She was unable to climb back up before the train arrived.
The train driver returned a negative breath test, and police spoke to a number of people and reviewed CCTV.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
