Things can not get worse for the New York Mets, who have now lost eight of 10 following a sweep by the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The big story heading into Thursday's matchup with the Arizona Diamondbacks does not pertain to the team's performance on the field but instead is focused on relief pitcher Jorge Lopez's theatrics in yesterday's game.

Lopez was ejected, then promptly threw his glove into the crowd while exiting. After the game, Lopez was DFA'd by the Mets.

Luckily for the Mets, the Snakes were just swept themselves by the Texas Rangers.

It'll be Zac Gallen on the mound for Arizona and Christian Scott for the Mets.

I built an enticing three-leg SGP that pays out roughly 10-1. They say one man's trash is another man's treasure

Zac Gallen

Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-113)

Gallen is coming off of a strong performance against the Marlins, and now faces a Mets lineup that can not get out of their way.

Gallen finished his last start with just five punchouts, so I think we are getting some value on this over 5.5 number because of that.

The Mets strike out roughly eight times per game, which ranks in the middle of the pack among MLB lineups. They have also seen Gallen a fair amount in the past, and are hitting a measly .225 over 80 at-bats.

Gallen is striking out nine batters per nine innings on the year and has done an excellent job at limiting hard contact. It may as well be a circus in the Mets clubhouse right now, so I envision a big performance from Gallen.

We just spoke about how Gallen has had success against the Mets in the past, but one hitter who stuck out to me was Martinez.

Martinez is 3-for-6 lifetime with a homer against Gallen, and I think this is far too lucrative of a price to pass up.

Martinez's .394 BABIP is not sustainable, but I've seen enough thus far to believe he still has some juice left in the tank. Considering he hits fourth in the order, I expect him to get at least four ABs throughout the ballgame, and I'm willing to take the risk when nobody seems to be willing to back any aspect of New York's offense right now.

Ketel Marte

Marte has struggled lately, entering tonight's game on a 0-for-20 skid.

However, he is far too good of a hitter for the slump to continue.

The Month of May has been rough for Marte, hitting .211. Marte's underlying metrics are all mostly positive, and his soft contact is lower than last season.

It's odd to see that Marte is hitting far worse against right-handed pitching, considering he has always been a better hitter from the left-hand side. Marte is hitting a measly .239 as a lefty, and .309 as a righty.

Marte has never faced Scott before, so I'd expect him to be aggressive early in the count and jump on any pitch in the zone. If he fails against Scott early in the game, he'll get the opportunity to face a horrific Mets bullpen.
