The San Diego Padres go for the sweep against the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday afternoon at Petco Park.

The Padres offense has been the story of the series as they continue to deliver clutch hit after clutch hit. Michael King will start for San Diego and is coming off a mediocre start against the Oakland A’s. Tobias Myers will counter for Milwaukee.

The latest Padres vs Brewers odds for Sunday have the Padres as -135 moneyline favorites with an over/under of 7.5 (-112o / -108u). Take a look at my Padres vs Brewers prediction and MLB betting preview.

The key for the Brewers on Sunday will be driving up the pitch count against King because the Brewers are only hitting .171 against King lifetime. King at times loses his composure and can get a bit wild by allowing a lot of free passes that elevate his pitch count in the early innings.

It’s always tough to bounce back after losing the first three games in a series, but the Brewers often are more than capable of taking advantage of a poor outing from King to get some runs across the board. Myers is a contact picture, and his current ERA should probably be closer to 4.30, according to Statcast.

Myers needs to hold steady as the Brewers bullpen has been taxed most of the series so far. If the Brewers can chase King out of the game early, I'm confident that they’ll have a shot to pick up their first win of the series and avoid the sweep.

On the other hand, the Padres are looking for a lengthy start from King. The Brewers will struggle to score runs if King pitches deep into the game, but it is tough to say whether or not he will avoid walks and do that.

The Padres have a favorable offensive matchup against Myers, especially since he is more of a contact pitcher. It is unclear whether or not Fernando Tatis Jr. will play on Sunday due to a triceps contusion, but if he is in the lineup, that obviously provides a huge boost.

A lot of things have gone the Padres' way this series, and it would not surprise me to see their offense stagger a bit. Even with King's strong history against the Brewers' bats, I am not going to go out of my way to back him because he has yet to be consistent enough with his pitch-count efficiency, and this could cause the Padres to use more of their bullpen than they would like to.

Betting Pick & Prediction

I am going to roll the dice with the Brewers to avoid the sweep in San Diego. The market is not giving the Brewers any credit and is pricing this game as too lopsided of a pitching matchup for them to overcome.

However, I’m going to go against the grain and assume that King struggles to pitch deep in the game, which will allow the Brewers to score some runs late and secure the victory. Of course, Myers has to avoid getting blown up, but he is a decent enough picture who can generate enough soft contact and hold the Padres offense at bay.

The top of the Brewers lineup is far too talented to be contained for this length of time, so I’m going out on a hunch that they are going to figure it out and find a way to win late in the game to avoid the sweep on Sunday.

Pick: Brewers Moneyline +116
