The Titans have turned to a new head coach to determine whether their quarterback of the future is currently on the roster.

Will Levis was touted as a potential No. 1 overall pick in 2023 but fell to the second round. There's talent there, and it's now Brian Callahan's job to unlock Levis' potential.

Here's everything you need to know about the 2024 Titans.

Important Titans Betting Stats

As a rookie head coach, Callahan has no record against the spread. For whatever it’s worth (maybe nothing!), Zac Taylor, his former boss, has an impressive 49-38-2 mark ATS.

The Tennessee quarterback room is relatively inexperienced. Levis is 3-6 ATS and Malik Willis is 2-1. Mason Rudolph should provide solid competition for Levis, and he’s 10-4 ATS thanks to a strong run as the Steelers' starter last season.

Is Levis the Answer in Tennessee?

The job for Callahan is daunting in what appears to be a very competitive AFC South. His immediate task, though, is to figure out whether Levis is the Titans’ quarterback of the future.

Callahan joins the Titans from Cincinnati, where he was the offensive coordinator for the Joe Burrow-led offense. Based on early returns, Levis is no Burrow, but Tennessee just needs to know whether he’s a starter.

The Titans did their best to put Levis in a position to succeed this offseason. Future Hall of Fame running back Derrick Henry moved on to the Ravens and was replaced by Tony Pollard, who should form a capable RB duo with Tyjae Spears. Veteran wide receivers Calvin Ridley and Tyler Boyd were signed, as well.

The big acquisition was the seventh overall pick of the NFL Draft: JC Latham, who the Titans hope will be the left tackle of the future and can protect Levis’ blindside.

Last season, Levis was getting hit too often for the Titans to figure out what kind of player he can be. The unit was one of the worst in the league, but Tennessee will hope that Latham and 2023 first-round pick Peter Skoronski can help stabilize the unit this season.

The Titans also signed center Lloyd Cushenberry, who is coming off a great season in Denver.

If Callahan runs a similar offense to what the Bengals ran during his time in Cincinnati, expect Levis to throw the ball a lot. He’ll need to be given plenty of time, so a lack of development from the offensive line this season will doom the Titans – and maybe Levis’ career as a starter.

How to Back the Titans This Season

It seems unlikely that the Titans will be able to compete with the three nine-win teams from their division last season: the Texans, Jaguars and Colts.

This will be a transitional season for Tennessee as it moves into a new offense with a young quarterback who hasn’t proven capable so far in the NFL. At best, it looks like Tennessee has the potential to play spoiler if Levis has a solid season.

For fantasy, be sure to monitor DeAndre Hopkins injury news. The veteran receiver will miss all of the preseason, which means a potentially elevated role for Ridley and third-year receiver Treylon Burks.

2024 Titans Schedule Info

Making Callahan’s job even harder this season will be the Titans’ 2024 schedule, which is ranked as the fifth hardest in the NFL by Action Network’s Sean Koerner.

The biggest reason for that ranking is the AFC South. Houston ranks fourth, Jacksonville eighth and Indianapolis 13th. The Titans face the Jets, Packers and Dolphins from Weeks 2-4 and then get the Bills and Lions in Weeks 7 and 8.

Tennessee's Week 1 Odds & Matchup

The Titans will open the season in Chicago against the Bears. Chicago, in what will be Caleb Williams’ NFL debut, is a 4.5-point favorite with a game total of 43.5.

Get used to the Titans being an underdog. They might not be favored in a game until Week 9 when they host the Patriots.
