Dawson Knox Fantasy Impact: How His Injury Impacts Dalton Kincaid, Josh Allen

It’s been a rough go lately for the Bills’ offense, and now they’ll be without one of their top pass catchers for the foreseeable future.

Buffalo announced on Monday that tight end Dawson Knox is out indefinitely as he’s set to undergo wrist surgery. It’s an injury he's battled for the past three weeks, and the team determined the best course of action going forward is to put him under the knife.

Knox has played a pivotal role in Buffalo’s offense over the past years, particularly in 2021 and 2022, when he totaled 97 catches for 1,104 yards and 15 touchdowns. However, it's been a down year for him with only 15 catches for 102 yards and one touchdown through seven games.

Knox's role has been diminished with the addition of Dalton Kincaid, who the Bills selected 25th overall in the 2023 NFL Draft. The rookie has the second-most catches on the team (25), but is averaging just 7.7 yards per reception, which ranks seventh. He’s caught nearly everything thrown his way, though, as his 93% catch rate is the best in the league among those with at least 10 targets.

Kincaid has come on strong as a rookie, and he has an opportunity to make an even bigger impact with Knox sidelined. The two have split targets virtually down the middle with the veteran seeing 28 passes thrown his way and the rookie 27.

According to Sean Koerner's most recent Fantasy Tiers, Kincaid was listed above Knox entering Week 7 and Kincaid ranked higher (13th) than Knox (22nd) in Koerner's Week 7 PPR rankings.
