The Seahawks caught an unlucky break in their key division matchup against the Rams Sunday.

Geno Smith took a huge hit from Aaron Donald late in the third quarter and laid on the turf in pain. He headed directly into the blue medical tent, and the Seahawks eventually announced him as questionable to return with an elbow injury. He was later seen on the sideline with a massive wrap on his right arm as he was replaced by Drew Lock.

Smith’s been serviceable this season, though a far cry from last season in which he was named the Comeback Player of the Year.  He’s completed 196-of-300 attempts for 2,171 yards and 11 touchdowns through Week 10. He completed 19-of-29 passes for 197 yards and a touchdown before departing, and staked Seattle to a 16-7 lead.

After the Rams took a 17-16 lead, Smith returned late in the fourth quarter and conducted a potential game-winning drive. However, Seahawks kicker Jason Myers missed the go-ahead field goal.

The Seahawks face a quick turnaround as they play Thanksgiving night against the 49ers and Smith's injury status will be a key question leading up to the game. They also lost Kenneth Walker to an oblique injury in the first quarter, so their offense may be up against the wall against a San Francisco team with the second-best odds to win the Super Bowl, according to ESPN BET (+500) and with a lead in the NFC West division.
