USMNT Reportedly Fires Gregg Berhalter

Gregg Berhalter wasn’t exactly the most popular USMNT manager among fans. In fact, many were hoping the silver lining to the United States’ flameout in this year's COPA America tournament would lead to his sacking.

Well, they got their wish as the USMNT reportedly fired Berhalter on Wednesday.

The manager was in his second stint with the team. His contract expired shortly after the 2022 World Cup, which ended in controversy when Gio Reyna's family launched allegations against him. However, after an investigation, he was rehired in June of 2023, much to the chagrin of a vocal segment of fans.

Berhalter was first named manager in December of 2018 and went 44-13-17 in 74 games. The United States won the inaugural Nations League title in 2021, as well as the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup under his stewardship. Both victories came against rival Mexico. Berhalter also became the first to ever coach and play in the World Cup when he guided the US to the Round of 16 in the 2022 tournament.
