If you run a Google image search on "glass skin," your screen will be flooded with pictures of complexions so glowy, they're almost reflective. The skin-care trend popped up in Korea a few years ago and became the talk of the internet shortly thereafter.
I know what you're thinking: You could slap on some face gloss and get the same effect, but true devotees are committed to achieving a mirror-like quality solely through skin care — and lots of it. For me, a person whose skin has a sheen more like aluminum foil than glass, despite an already-intense routine, it seemed like a tall order.
But I'm pleased to report that a single product, the Peach & Lily Glass Skin Refining Serum, has given my stressed-looking skin the extra oomph it's been lacking.
Just one application of the gel-like serum left my skin remarkably dewy — so much so that I skipped the dab of cream highlighter I usually apply to the tops of my cheekbones. I also noticed an immediate plumping effect, which I'm attributing to the hyaluronic acid in the blend. After applying the serum day and night for almost a week, there was also significantly less redness around my nostrils than normal — a byproduct, I'd guess, of soothing niacinamide. Simply put, my skin just looked happier in terms of both texture and tone. It even helped calm the spots left behind from my stressed-induced breakouts.
All that said, it's rare to find a product that touts more than one benefit and actually delivers on all counts, so I indulged the skeptic in me and started adjusting other products in my routine. Was it the combination of this serum with my moisturizer that was responsible for my new glow? For my experiment, I stopped using my moisturizer and stuck with just the serum. The result: the same happy, bright-looking skin.
While my skin probably still isn't glassy enough to go viral, it does look the healthiest and happiest it has in a while — and I'd take that over retweets any day.
