If the words “purifying clay mask” remind you of pore-stripping slumber-party shenanigans, let us stop you right there. This mask is sophisticated (that heavenly spicy ginger scent!), soft, and downright hydrating. It smooths on quite thick but is only barely opaque on the skin. While you can feel it stiffening as the suggested 15 minutes pass, it never reaches cracking levels. But the real surprise is when you rinse it off: Once you splash on water, it turns creamy. Our combination skin was left feeling deep-cleaned (thanks to the dirt-sucking clay), but also soft, radiant, and dewy (thanks to everything else). It fits Allure’s criteria for a natural product: It does not contain parabens, phthalates, sodium lauryl sulfate, mineral oil, or petrolatum.
