Tie-dye nail art was already the manicure trend of the summer, but Kylie Jenner just gave the trend a crown and polished it. On Friday, Jenner posted an Instagram photo of her perfectly crafted, long, coffin-shaped acrylics, painted in with light touches of yellow, pink, blue, and green. The shade is an unmistakable take on the tie-dye T-shirts from suburban flea markets and the fall 2019 fashion runways.
This year, the fashion world has embraced tie dye in a major way. It's a high-low style that manages to be colorful and still match any outfit. Best of all, tie-dye evokes memories of sleepaway camp and the Grateful Dead, and who doesn't love a little nostalgia in the summertime?
Jenner may have been too young to catch the tie-dye trend its original time around, but she and celebrity nail artist Chaun Legend are here to take it on, 2019 style. Popsugar reports that the look was created by dabbing each color onto the nails with a makeup sponge. Legend then applied the individual colors using gel polish, which makes sense — if you're going to take the time to paint such an intricate pattern, it deserves to be cured under a UV light.

This trend is picking up so fast that we wouldn't be surprised to see the streets of Calabasas running with pastel polish. Jenner's whole crew is jumping on the tie-dye bandwagon: Justine Marjan and Gigi Hadid have both tried the trend this season, and we'll bet the rest of the Kardashian-Jenners won't be far behind.
