Whoa, this 72 piece set has lots of color and goes on the paper very, very smoothly.. I have other more expensive sets.....these pencils are my favorite, far and away. They layer so beautifully. Thank you Amazon for a great product at a great price.

I only used Amazon Basics on the bottom right corner the picture I am colouring and this is my opinion. I took into consideration the poor quality of the paper. I coloured the top with prismacolor scholar and I would say that Amazon Basics is the same quality as Prismacolor SCHOLARS depending on the pencil (on cheap paper). I found them to be either great or terribly dry. For example one of the oranges was so smooth and creamy, it was a dream. However, some colours were dry and scratchy. Still, for the price, I say get it. It is great for adult colouring, for sure. I would rate it higher however I found the formula to be inconsistent. When it comes to budget pencils this is a great option, in my personal experience. In general I always go to prismacolor scholars as my budget pencil, they are great value when on sale. I will also purchase Amazon Basics, even with the few dry pencils, the value and performance for the money is awesome.

These pencil crayons are really great. I took up drawing while recovering from surgery. I haven’t really used pencil crayons since my kids were little. These ones are such superior quality to those ones. Easy to use, vibrant colours. Great assortment of colours, and value for money.

These are a great price, come in a nice tin. None were breaking during use. They actually blend quite well. I made this large 14x16 octopus piece with all Amazon colored pencils, jelly roll pen for some white and used a Lyra Splender pencil for blending. Paper was Bristol Vellum. All in all I found these to have a pretty hard led, sharpens well and colors were quite rich. Very happy! Hey Amazon! Need some art work for your tin? Let me know!

If you're looking for decent color pencils that won't break the bank these will work nicely. You can't beat the price. Make sure you use a decent Paper for best results (as with all color pencils).

My daughter uses these colored pencils for her art assignments and coloring books. The soft core makes them easy to apply, and the colors are rich and true to the shade. They sharpen smoothly without breaking, and the variety in the pack means she always has the perfect color for her creations.

Overall, these colored pencils offer excellent quality at a great price. Highly recommended for artists and coloring enthusiasts!

The colors are vibrant and smooth, with a nice, soft core that makes blending a breeze. I was pleasantly surprised at how well they layer, especially for the price.

The pencils feel comfortable to hold, and they don’t break easily when sharpening, which is a big plus. The 24-color set offers a good variety of shades for most of my projects, from sketching to more detailed work. If you’re a beginner or just need an affordable set for coloring or casual art, these are definitely worth it.

Thanks to this beautifully packaged set of 24 colored pencils, your child can complete any school project or even use these to color a picture. These measure over 7 inches long, so they are comfortable to work with.

I love that it comes in this metal holder. When they are done, they just put them back in the holder and store them in their school backpack or anywhere else they store their art essentials.

It's well worth the money. This even makes a cute and inexpensive gift for someone who is starting school.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow. Just Wow!
Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2023
Style: 72 Count SetVerified Purchase
In case you don't like reading wordy reviews, here's the short version:

I LOVE them. Currently, the largest set you can buy is 72 and that does the job just fine, but I'm a lazy colorist and a color addict, so I would be the first one in line to buy an even bigger set it they ever made one. I would highly recommend these as a very first colored pencil for someone who has never used colored pencils, or as an experienced Colorist, to supplement what you already have.

Want more detail about why? Then read on. If not, stop here.

I got into adult coloring at the start of 2023 and in that time, I've tried countless brands of pencils and learned a lot from trial and error. One of the most important things I've learned is that when it comes to colored pencils, it's important to match the pencil to the paper. The same brand/set of pencils may work GREAT in one coloring book or on one type of paper, but will be a total disappointment on another. The wrong combination will suck all the fun out of coloring, and then what's the point?

Beyond that, basically, there are two different types of pencils: mostly wax based and mostly oil based. Mostly wax pencils are softer and put down lot of color very quickly - even with light pressure - but used with too much pressure and/or on the wrong paper, the color can start to get clumpy and uneven really fast. They also wear down fast, so you have to sharpen them more often. Mostly oil based pencils are much firmer. Good ones will also give you rich, intense color, however, unless you're really heavy handed, you'll have to spend more time on each area to get there. The benefit of oil based pencils is that they hold their point for much longer and can create thin, crisp lines. That means, if you're working on a lot of tiny details or small spaces, you will get much better color control and you won't have to sharpen nearly as often. Depending on what you're coloring, it helps to have one set of each type.

Or . . . you can buy the Amazon Basics as they do both of those jobs really well. Whether I'm working on small-ish repeated patterns or large areas, I'm able to get smooth, even, alcohol marker like coverage with very little effort, yet they still hold their point for doing detail work. If you're only using pencils, they blend beautifully one color over another to create new colors. If you're feeling experimental (or want to speed up the coloring process), they add "pop" and dimension to your work when you use them on top of water or alcohol based markers of any quality or brand.

Bonus: they work well on most types of paper and have some colors that are not commonly found in mid-grade colored pencil sets (like very pale baby blue). The tips don't break easily (unless you drop them on a hard surface and shatter the core) and they sharpen beautifully with a hand crank pencil sharpener.

Great set of pencils.
