Recently bought as a gift to myself for Christmas as I needed a new electric toothbrush. Turns out to be one of the best gifts I’ve ever treated myself to. As everyone will know brushing teeth is a day to day chore that hasn’t varied much over the course of my life. My previous electric toothbtoothbrush not earlier generation OraL B and this incarnation is a game changer.
As you would expect from Oral B, who’ve been innovating oral hygiene for many years, the toothbrush is a joy to use and takes a matter of minutes to be set up and ready for use out of the box. The hardest part was typing in my wi-fi password and I can’t blame Oral B for that. It’s use of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and smartphone may be expected from high end products nowadays but Oral B have introduced this in a fun, intelligent and helpful way. It’s a joy to brush my teeth now.
An obvious point to consider before purchase is the price of the item. This toothbrush is without a doubt a, maybe even the, high end product for oral hygiene. Given the longevity of Oral B products it’s right to recognise that this is a one-off investment for many years of brushing and over that time the cost is relatively minor, however, it is still expensive at the point of purchase and whilst it will always be down to the individual to decide I would recommend buying it for the following reasons:
G - Gamification - Oral B have included a range of awards, medals, journeys within the product to incentivise the task of brushing your teeth. This makes each cleansing session interesting and informative - have I improved, can I try new cleaning approaches, what guide or tip will come next.
E - Elegance - This toothbrush is a beautiful and comfortable design. The small touches like the patterning on the handle, and the brush head design add to its attractiveness and make it something to see on your bathroom shelf rather than hidden way in your cabinet.
N - Nurture - The design and operation of the toothbrush and accompanying app educates your brushing habits and develops your technique. It trains you resulting in better oral hygiene and better feeling teeth and gums.
I - Intuitive - Whilst we all know how to use a toothbrush it’s clear there is still scope to develop and improve our technique. This toothbrush and app provide a wide range of brushing modes, controls, guidance and information within easily accesible menu options on handle or in app.
U - Utilitarian - On the one hand it is, after all, just a toothbrush. On the other hand there is tutoring, technique improvements, and beautiful design. It does it’s job very, very well.
S - Synchronicity - Oral B has successfully linked the act of toothbrushing to our familiar technology, smart phone app, to challenge and improve our oral hygiene. Simple, elegant design allied to sophisticated statistical monitoring and information provision all done seamlessly.
All in all this toothbrush fulfills your brushing and oral cleansing needs and pushes you to do better. It is a joy to use and makes a pleasant distraction from the task of brushing.
