Love my Kindle

I have had the same kindle for over 9 years, there is so much difference. The paper white signature edition is light and clearer and so much faster the my original kindle. Glad I got it when I did as have been debating it for sometime. Worth the investment if u like reading. In picture is my old verses this version.

This kindle is so much better than my original basic model. Its display is so clear and can be read at night without the need for turning a light on. It’s small and neat but reassuringly sturdy. I got the bundle signature with cork case and charger stand. Quite pleased with this kindle but I'm sad that the screen etc is still in black and white, so still no colour for the book covers! Sad! Anyway this is bigger than my 6th gen one which I prefer. I DONT like the 'bookmark' facility being made harder! What's that all about? Used to just tap on top right and up it would pop! Now you have to tap and sometimes it'll come up and sometimes it won't. Annoying. Plus then you still have to tap on it to make it 'stay' on the page. The other thing I've found is when I underline, say, a sentence in another language to use Translate, sometimes it'll come up wothbthe option but often it won't. There are NO instructions so I'll need to YouTube to see what I'm doing wrong. Just little things like that have got harder and they shouldn't be! It's quicker, it charges well on the stand even woth cover on (although the stand won't be travelling with me as its not pack proof, too big) but hopefully I won't need to charge it for a week away. We'll see! One last gripe, page turn sometimes whizzes over way beyond one page. Also annoying! Never had that issue with the old one!

A dedicated kindle user, this is my fourth over many years. The last, from 2017, was beginning to slow down a little and have the occasional glitch and freeze in operation so time for an upgrade. For travelling, a Kindle makes it so much easier to have a whole pile of books to read and now this one is splash proof too; reading by the pool or in the bath should be less of a concern. This model has a larger screen and the back-light seems more nuanced in its ability to be adapted to different lighting surrounds. So far it connects to wifi faster, downloads books faster, opens faster and retains the same ease of use in reading a single book as its predecessor.

The only downside is that the ability to catalogue, adapt how the library presents and broader user interface remains the same as its predecessor too...... somewhat clunky. Come on Kindle team, give us more user-interface controls, even if through a laptop or app..... It would be great to be able to see all the novels in a series listed in the sequence they were written in and, at the touch of a button, to see the ones still to be read in the series chronologically. I sometimes think the team that developed kindle software don't do that much reading themselves. Anyway great device, faster, lighter and slightly larger but the user interface needs an overhaul.

Getting older, and with deteriorating eyesight, meant that one of my favourite past times; i.e. reading a novel, was becoming harder and required a whole range of reading glasses of varying strengths. Then I discovered the Kindle Paperwhite with the built in light, adjustable font, and amazing lightness; making it comfortable to read for long periods - don’t even need a bookmark!

I hesitated for quite a while before deciding to take the plunge; I wish I hadn’t waited - it has turned out to be a great investment and a life saver.
