NOTE- bag isn’t waterproof. It has a pullover cover that is exposed when unzipped at the bottom of the bag.
Bought for a motorcycle trip with camping. I’ve stuffed my hammock, bug fly and rain fly, small cooking set, warm weather sleeping bag, a compact rechargeable fan, a green gas tank, stand and burner for gas tank. Still have some room left but not much. Fits very well and the stomach strap is real good. Happy I bought this one.

Major design flaw! Having those cute little side pockets means that you have to keep their strap fastened in front. If not, they flop out, leaving you looking like Buzz Lightyear about to take flight. Also, if you are larger than about 32-34 inch waiste, the pockets end up too far back to be accessible. We tried fastening them between the bag and my son’s back, but we were unable to do that, and that would defeat the purpose of having the pockets anyway. An improvement would be to make the pockets adjustable along the strap for people of different sizes, and make them removable for when you don’t want to fasten the strap in front.

bought this one it was 2 days delivery. we were going to 2 hour hike in rain . it said waterproof and I didnt use cover and everting was wet inside by time we reached camp. good thing I listen t mom and placed extra clothing in ziplock. I should have used cover but rain was not heavy . why advertised as waterproof. one is not without cover. disappointed

This bag has a ton of space, decently padded straps, and is a great choice if you aren't wanting to invest a lot of money in equipment yet. The only issue for me is that it feels too long for my torso. I'm a 5'5" woman and it feels like my torso needs to be a couple inches longer for everything to line up right.

While not an avid hiker, I have made trips into the high Sierras, done Mt. Whitney, and some other multi-day trips. I have used some pretty high quality equipment (mostly provided by friends) that comes at a pretty high price. I gave this backpack 5 stars in part because of the value. Yes, there are much more expensive backpacks and yes, they are absolutely better. I don't have a high quality pack at this time to do a side-by-side comparison, but the really good packs are just stronger and sturdier feeling, somehow without being heavy, and are truly waterproof, and some are bigger/hold more. Also, they seem to have more involved features that keep the bulk of the weight of the pack on your hips and not your shoulders and back, which is really important if you're going to carry a lot of weight for a long time. But that kind of pack costs double or triple what this one does, and you can easily spend even more than that. For almost any day trip, I would feel totally comfortable with this. I am doing Sykes trail in Big Sur this summer, which is 10 miles in with approximately 1000 feet of elevation gain overall (up and down and up and down) and I plan to stay 2 nights, and I feel very good about using this pack for it (though I will say, that's about as much as I would take on with out a more serious pack). It's lightweight enough, and it's 50L, and it can hold the tent, sleeping pad, stove, water filter, sleeping bag, and a dozen or so small items. I probably can't also easily fit cookware but don't need it for a short trip. If you're an experienced backpacker planning a serious expedition, you probably aren't even reading this because you already have some serious equipment, but if you're anything like me--these days just doing some fairly leisurely hikes to do a day or 2 of camping, this feels like a great option. It's got a lot of convenient pockets, sits pretty comfortably on the back, and feels tough enough to last several trips like the one I have upcoming. I'm a little skeptical of it's "waterproof"ness, but at the level of hiking I'm up for, forecasted heavy rain spells cancelation for me anyway.

Poor quality, cheap materials

This bag is cheap for a reason... it's cheap. Upon arrival, one of the pull strings on the side was broken. None of the zippers work well, but especially the zipper for the lower front compartment that has to zip around a curve. It is constantly getting caught in the extra flaps and material that surrounds it. In fact, the gray lining around the zipper was not sewn well and came apart and gets stuck in the zipper even more. You have to use 2 hands inch by inch when zipping or unzipping it. It's basically useless. Used this bag for a week on trip and don't think I'll use it again unless I don't need the lower front pouch.

I brought this for my Kids backpacking , found its built of very good quality but then my kid suggested he wanted 60L ( little bigger one) so I had to return it.
So if you are considering this for BIY scout backpacking think twice go for little bigger one
but if your kid is under 12 then you can think about it.
