Selvin's Landscaping & Hardscape Services Inc
Overall our yard looks beautiful and the job was finished on time for a large event we were hosting. Our sod was installed in early May and it is now the end of July and 99% of the yard still looks amazing. We have kept up with watering and the rain this summer has certainly helped. Selvin was responsive to my inquiries, I think in this type of business that doesn't always happen and I appreciated the return text or email's. The only complaint we have is that is some spots there were rocks left in the soil which you don't notice until it is time to cut the grass and you are walking on the entire lawn

DB has been unresponsive since March trying to correct a mistake they made grading our yard. Now every time it rains we get a massive puddle in the backyard because of a high spot they refuse to come repair. They agree it needs to be done, but didn't show up 3 times it was scheduled and now are mostly unresponsive! Beware, if things don't go right they don't seem to want to fix their mistakes. Even reached out to Court Schild over a week ago with no results. The gutter drains were routed incorrectly leading to water coming over our foundation into the basement of our brand new home. When DB didn't show up we were forced to have another company fix the issue so that we did not continue to get water due to poor grading and gutter drain routing. Hopefully DB steps up and corrects the remaining issues, I will update the review when that happens

Excellent! Frank, Jennifer and team were great to partner with from project scoping, timeliness, responsiveness, and follow up to wrap up remaining details. The crew was on time, clean, and worked hard to complete the work in 1.5 days! Would recommend for anyone.

Excellent experience. We needed some major yard drainage and grading work needed. They were very knowledgeable, thorough, personable, and reasonable. Where it made sense Selvin made recommendations but was never pushy. I fell very optimistic that are problem will be resolved. A+

We were having drainage problems in our yard. Our sump pump line and downspouts, along with our neighbor's downspouts, were pooling in areas and making our yard pretty swampy in places. Dave originally recommended a rain garden, but upon speaking with the village engineer, decided that a French drain connecting to the storm sewer would be preferable. Dave's crew worked hard and efficiently each day, taking care to not leave our yard any more of a mess than was necessary. They were also very good about fixing lines from the irrigation system that they cut (which we knew was bound to happen). The true test came with this spring's heavy rains, and the new French drain system worked great. No more extreme swampiness. The only disappointment (if I can even call it that) was that Dave was sometimes slow to respond. However, I understand that running your own business is a lot of work, especially when you're as hands-on as Dave

Evergreen Development Group
They returned my initial call promply and were good at communicating with me. They performed the work in an excellent and professional manner. Katlyn gave us ideas that we had never thought of and due to that, we saved more than $2000 as compared to other companies that we had give us an estimate (we had 5 companies bid on this project). The other companies just gave us an estimate on what we thought we wanted and didn't suggest anything like Katlyn did. We are glad we found her and would recommend Evergreen Developement to our friends and neighbors

Jim Verhaeghe & Sons Landscaping Inc
Jim was extremely responsive and attentive from my first call. I contacted jim on a recommendation from c*** creek sod farms at around 4 pm on a Tuesday. He said he was sorry he could not come out right now, but asked if it would it be ok if he came by in around 2 hours. He was running 10 minutes late due to rush hour traffic from Elgin to Aurora and called me to let me know. He walked the entire backyard with me and showed me how he would grade the backyard with his power rake and hand rake, where he would come in with his tractor, how he would lay the sod, and was extremely helpful with all my questions. He did a wonderful job grading my backyard and he laid the sod all in one day. He took my fence apart to get his tractor in, he moved about half a cord of firewood onto my patio so he could grade and install the sod. He moved/removed anything needed to complete the project without damaging or destroying anything. Although Jim's work was fantastic, Jim's communication was even better. We had some rainstorms the week he performed the work which usually pushes him back a day or two. He contacted me the day before anytime he even thought the weather may cause a problem and push back the project. Although we had 2 rainstorms the week the work was performed Jim still met his original prediction or Friday of that week. He went out of his way and even went as far as to hire a 4th man to expedite the project to complete it in one day because the forecast for the following week had so much rain which not only allowed him to complete the project on time but also will save me money on my water bill. This is everything that you hope for from a small business; attentive, responsive, informative, fantastic work, cleaned up after themselves, and goes the extra mile. On a side note, I recently installed a new mailbox and had not back filled the hole and reseeded around the mailbox. Jim had 5 pieces of sod left over and I asked him if he could leave half a roll so I could backfill around the post and use the half piece to sod around it. He said no problem and asked one of his guys to grab a half piece for me. We continued to chat and review the work he had done and when I looked back at my mailbox 2 minutes later, he had 2 guys backfilling my hole, cutting the sod to fit around the box and had my lawn around the mailbox looking like new again. I wouldn't hesitate to work with Jim and his crew again. Top notch

JIMENEZ & SON'S LANDSCAPING INC
The sod that was used was not consistent. After the winter the sod now looks like a checker board with different shades of green and different growing speeds. I asked the landscaper to create a berm along the north side of the property to channel water away from fruit trees and a garden the landscaper put in. This was not done and the area around the fruit trees and garden flood each time it rains washing mulch into the grass and garden. I called and emailed the landscaper several times and did not get a satisfactory response. I was told the problem needed additional work at an additional cost. After several more attempts to meet with the landscaper, I was told they were shut down for the winter and would contact me in the spring. No word from them

Very fast, friendly and professional staff. There were some communication issues around the subcontractor doing the gates which was a bit of a headache but the work done turned out beautifully!

They were supposed to remove several overgrown flower beds. They did not dig up bulbs and a month later and several of the offending plants are back. The work quality looks ok. Punctuality is a problem. I was told that this would be a "one day" job. It was more of a two wee, off and on ordeal. They came in about $500 over the estimate

Maple Leaf Landscaping & Brick Paving
Due to outside events, work was delayed until September, anticipating cooler weather for the better establishment of sod. Email communication was somewhat erratic getting the start date established and with some follow-up questions. Once the work was started, Stefano was very helpful in obtaining the particular style of paver we had chosen. The crew worked efficiently and completed all work during the hottest weather of the year. We had a weekend of very heavy rain (4+") a couple of weeks after the work was completed and, although the yard was getting quite soggy while this very heavy rain continued, the yard was completely drained a few hours after the rain stopped. I have mowed twice and the sod appears to have established quite well

Competitive Lawn Service
It took several emails to get them to come out to quote the work. The quote came with a price and amount of sod needed only. No picture, no description. They sent someone out months later to do the job and he had no idea where the work was to be provided or that re-grading was necessary. So he left. I had taken the day off work. The day of the work (another day off I had to take) the owner, Eric, came out to say that they would have to put seed down because it had been under quoted. He was rude and condescending. At one point when I said I didn't know what 350 square feet of sod looked like, he actually said, " 350 square feet is 350 square feet". It wasn't until I showed him pictures of the original damage that needed to be repaired that he backed off of talking about charging more. At one point he even laughed at me that I thought his company should have known what was needed and sent a drawing or something with the quote. My neighbor, who is paying for the work because thye caused the damage, said that his workers told them that I was trying to "rip them off" and make them pay for sod when they could have put seed. His company is in complete disarray. Everyone in the company that I spoke to prior to this told me a different story and how it was someone else's fault. They even sent me the invoice when it was made VERY clear as to who that should go to because that is who agreed to the work! I have since canceled all my lawn care services with them. The owner is extremely unprofessional

Schmitt's Landscape Co
Initially our project manager came out promptly and did a thorough job of understanding the situation and compiling a quote. He listened and had good suggestions for how to approach the situation. We got multiple quotes and Schmitt's quote was exactly in line with the others. The biggest hang-up we had was contacting our project manager and receiving the quote. It took at least a week to formally receive the quote and any follow-up conversations most had to leave a message with someone at the office who would then relay it and wait for him to call us. Ultimately, the other landscaping firms could not schedule us as quickly as Schmitt's did and we are please with the outcome. The guys who showed up to do the work were on time, and worked hard and fast. Overall, the experience was a positive one. We will likely have Schmitt's back out in the autumn to grade the back yard as well

Greenwise Organic Lawn Care LLC
Marc and the whole team at Greenwise are incredible. Both the work they perform and their knowledge of sustainable practice are invaluable. We found Greenwise on Angie's list, and I am so glad that we went with them. Marc came out for a consultation the day after I called, and we talked through all of the work we needed done. Our yard was a wreck when we bought the house, but that did not deter Marc. We needed the front and back yards regraded, an old concrete walkway removed, a flagstone patio reset, a new paver walkway installed, new planting beds and a new tree planted. He thought it would take between 5 and 6 days of work. We agreed on a budget, and Marc worked with us to find deals on the tree and perennials we needed, and he also secured overstock pavers at a great price. Marc's team came a few weeks later and made short work of our long list. Marc pushed to keep all the work to 5 days. We literally could not be any happier with his work
