HE HAD DONE WORK ON THE OUTSIDE PAINTING THE TRIM AND DID GOOD WORK. THEY HAD A LITTLE DIFFICULTY REMOVING THE WALLPAPER. BUT I WAS PLEASED WITH THE OVERALL RESULT.

Creative Painting & Decorating Co.
First I want to say that I did not interact with this service provider, my husband did. So these are second-hand impressions. I will also say that in general, I'm not sure we properly communicated our needs to the contractor. So, all that said, our overall impression of him was very favorable. We thought his price was a tad high, but we also were confident that he would do a perfectionist job on the tasks quoted for. The main reasons we did not hire him were that we wanted more of a general contractor - someone to handle both technical/engineering aspects and artistic ones. We felt that Creative Painting had more expertise in the artistic side and finishing. For that, I have no doubt they would do a great job

TNT DYNAMITE DECORATORS
Tim corrected an amateur paint job attempted by my husband in our powder room We also had water damage on the baseboards: he completely repaired and corrected the damage. The room which had been an eyesore is now a gem. He is meticulous, and I'm pretty Picky! He also did us a solid by squeezing the powder room inbetween other jobs so it was ready for the holidays. We will have him complate the rest of the interior when he is available. Oh, he also came in under his original bid

Insites Painting & Decorating
It went well. The rooms look fantastic. There was a lot of work done around white molding and the work was precise, no sign at all on the molding that the rooms had been painted.

Mike was professional, courteous, and prompt. He did all the work himself. The rooms look GREAT!! Mike has an attention for detail and also covers all furniture, flooring, etc. His price was fair and the work was great.

Hank's Handyman Services, Inc.
Steve is methodical, organized and meticulous about his work. He used painter's tape on the cut lines, so the paint lines are all straight and clean. He is efficient and works very neatly, cleaning up behind himself. I wouldn't have known he was here unless I went into the room he was working in. It took him 5 days to complete the work. The walls needed two coats because I picked rich paint colors. He is personable with good customer service. At my request, he made sure to leave the holes where my pictures were hung so we could rehang them in the same spot

Lookswell Painting and Handyman Services
First impression (covered in diff post from telephone call) was a bit shaky as Jim was late for the initial estimate appt. I had plans that required I be on time - so I was a bit nervous. However, I personally liked Jim and he conveyed to me that he knew what he was doing 'paint-wise'. He got me my estimate and was on his way... His estimate was on point and slightly less than a second estimate I'd gotten from another Angie listed painter. The work began immediately after agreement (thanks!) and was completed timely. The painter that showed up was very diligent and very detail oriented. The wrought iron needing sanding and priming and the painter did a terrific job of getting to all the rust. He even pointed out a crack in the railing, and put in some bondo type product to help it refrain from future rust. (How's that for above and beyond?) I'm hopeful that the paint lasts many many years, but am also satisfied with Lookswell's 2 year warranty. One other thing I really appreciated about this work was that over the two days that the painter was here (prime 1 day / paint another) each day a 'manager' came over to see how the job was progressing and whether I had any issues or concerns. I thought that was a tremendous way to ensure customer satisfaction and to ensure the employee was getting the job done. Clearly these guys care about the customer being happy and their reputation. If I'd had an issue I'm sure it would have been addressed and rectified. I'd absolutely recommend Lookswell and would absolutely use them again

Peralta Painters
They were excellent both with ext and int. Very good at protecting floors and furniture with dropcloths and plastic. Gil was very responsive. Even when I changed my mind with two of the colors. Of course it was a little extra but he handled it professionally and it turned out awesome. If you need a painter for interior or exterior Gil is your guy

LAKEWOOD PAINTERS
The guys were really professional, punctual and neat and clean. They moved the furniture and took down the blinds and covered everything. At the end of the day the cleaned up like they weren't even here.

Voi Tek Painting
He is really good. The pricing is really good. His guys are very conscientious. They do a good job. The painting looks great. I actually had a problem this time and he is in the middle of fixing it because you do run into problems. In terms of quality and pricing, he is very good. I think what is important with painting outside of the house is the prep work and that was excellent. The preparation was great; it is the scrapping, the cleaning, the plotting and getting rid of the rotted wood. He did a phenomenal job. The powder room was probably $500 and the laundry room that he is finishing up now will be about $500

Midwest Painting
Steve visited us for the estimate within a few days after we contacted with him. His estimate was the most resonable out of three painters (Angies A ratings). After I ordered verbally over the phone Steve came back and wrote up the contract. Steve adjusted the 5 days work schedule to complete before my business trip. Steve and his crew(of 2) showed up the first day and Steve walked the guys through the job and they started. All 24 doors including closet doors and sliding doors were spray- painted at our grage by additional crew. Steve showed up every morning and the end of the day for checking up. The crew did good job and cleaned up each day. The paint job was done very well and we are very pleased. When we made a final payment, Steve charged the material cost net to his supplyer's invoice

North Shore Painting & Restoration
This was my second time using North Shore. I was very nervous about blindly choosing a painter, but I'm glad I listened to the Angie's List reviews. Jiri is professional, friendly, punctual, and his team of painters are fantastic. The first time I had them out, they painted an entryway/stairway and powder room. Our Oak Park home is almost 100 years old, and the plaster walls are cracked/damaged here and there. Both times, the painters meticulously patched and sanded, finished ahead of schedule, and were very careful to clean up (of course, it's a messy project, so additional clean-up was required, but well within reason.) As far as price goes, it's not dirt cheap, but Jiri's quotes are very, very fair and competitive with others. Scheduling was also very easy and didn't require any major headaches. Side note: all three of the painters who worked in my home + Jiri were more than kind to my toddler, who was a little too interested in what they were doing. Much appreciated! I highly recommend North Shore and wouldn't hesitate to use them again in the future

EDWARDS PAINTING
Outstanding. This is our 2nd job with Robert. He is a gifted painter and he transformed our home. The house had a lot of dark, disjointed colors and it now looks brand new and worth more then we paid for it. Robert is also knowledgeable about color choices and the designer he connected us with was invaluable. Our home was left pristine and we could not say more about how happy we are with his paint skills and service. Excellent value for money paid. Also he handled our job with integrity and kindness. Love the color choices from the designer. Thanks to Robert our home is now beautiful on the inside

Neighborhood Remodelers
In a word, GREAT! Each person at Neighborhood Remodelers is a professional -- totally focused on top-notch performance and client satisfaction. Luke is the salesman for the company and his wife Kerin is the president. Mike, Bill and Chuck are the foremen who plan, schedule and perform the work and supervise any specialists they have to bring in. I can't say enough good things about these 5 people! Their expertise, dedication and integrity are readily evident, in the "day to day" AND in the finished project. Chuck, who framed out our place, said "I'm really proud of this house!" He has good reason to be! They all have. The house was completed in 5 months; one month earlier than anticipated. That's due to disciplined and knowledgeable work crews who were well organized, resulting in very little "down time". At every turn, our suggestions were listened to and in fact, welcomed. We're happy with our new home and proud to recommend Neighborhood Remodelers to anyone who wants the best!

CREATIVE WALLS & SPACES
We weren't looking for design assistance in this project and would have been happy with the one neutral color we had in our home. From the first moment Diana (the owner) stepped into our house she made her views clear that she would paint it that way if we wanted but she thought it was pretty boring and could show us some ways to make it pop while still keeping it to the more neutral colors we liked. We ended up selecting them based on her willingness to give us advice, their pricing and their references both individual ones that I called and the ones on Angie's List. The Good: * Pricing was 2nd best of all the 5 vendors who responded. Mainly driven by her proposal to give us an additional discount beyond Angie's List pricing for doing all the work consecutively. * Design expertise. She convinced us to put multiple colors in the house from the original off-white we had. She led us gradually away from neutral in the main rooms and got us to have some real color in the kids rooms, the powder rooms, some of the bathrooms and my office. The whole house looks vibrant after all the new color. * Willingness to accomodate: Tony (Diana's husband) and the painting crew supervisor was committed to making us happy - working around some guests we had visiting and identifying other things to do at no cost (e.g we had an exterior vent cover which had fallen off and he found it and suggested fixing it). * Deposit - Diana had initially put down a 50% deposit on start of work which I thought was excessive especially as most others were telling me that deposits had to be paid up front once we agreed on bid. Diana changed her deposit to be only 50% of each level prior to their start and I found out that their deposit isn't actually due until they actually start work. Areas to Improve on. * Cleanliness - We ran into problems with paint dripping into furniture and onto carpets and then ceiling plates and wall plates having paint on them. A lot of that was due to some inconsistency in their crew on appropriately protecting all the furniture and masking everything properly prior to painting. In addition, to above which they were able to clean promptly after I pointed it out, they had some problems with black marks getting on some of our drapes and painting dripping out of their trash bags onto our carpets. For the drapes, Diana had first indicated they would not be responsible for taking them up and down and after my request she had said okay but said they would not be responsible for damage. However once discovering black marks on the my daughter's drapes (appears to have come from the curtain rod), they took the drapes in to dry clean and fixed without my asking for. In the second situation where the paint had soaked into the berber carpet, they paid for a professional rug cleaning company to come in and fix everything. However if they have one area they should work on improving it is this - from protecting the furniture and masking all areas to vacuuming all the dust away every day. * Insurance - while they carried Business Insurance they didn't carry workman's comp which I was concerned about until they offered to sign a waiver indemnifying me for any claims made by their workers. We are very happy with the painting job now that they have been away from the job for a couple of months. Initially I was wondering if I had made a mistake because of the initial cleanliness issues (we were going away for 6 days and I was worried about leaving the house after the experience of the first few days of cleaning including that they had left the door unlocked when leaving during the 2nd day.). However after expressing my concern Diana and Tony did everything they could to keep us happy and unconcerned. The work took a lot longer than I had thought - they were painting in our house almost continously for almost 4 weeks. The whole job was more intrusive than I had thought and given it was summer we had to do something out of the house all the time. However this was not their fault and when we paint the whole house again, we will likely paint it during the school year so we won't be home most of the time. The price ended up being about $1200 higher than initially bid mainly because of additional paint costs coming from all the colors that Diana had convinced us to pick. An additional $400 was from repairing damage to the walls which were more extensive than could be seen initially. I would definitely pick them again though I would probably not have the whole house done simultaneously as we did this time

HomeWorks of Batavia
Very early in year, March 23, Carl came out and wrote up an estimate. He was very professional and knowledgeable. We accepted and a May date was scheduled. Carl promised a profession job, talked about all the projects he has had in the past, all the projects he has currently…I’m so busy. I was a painful and regrettable experience for the following reasons: Unavailability: there was a time he didn’t return my phone calls, thought his office would take care of it, and then said he had had a major medical issue. Delays: -two three week delays due to weather--six weeks. (Numerous days of sunshine in Between). Didn't bump to the next week. -left town for a week to Canada -left town for a week to Kentucky -Original repair date in May, then June, then July -Promised June 18th, then emailed me on June 28th that it would not be until July 16th. -The week/days prior to July 16th, no word or confirmation that work would start All the actions and inactions did not make sense to me, like he had better things to do... Finally, I got my answer. He poo poo’d my project as one he wasn’t going to make any money on. I didn't tell him that we also have a master bath renovation, powder room renovation, kitchen stove update, and bar to install in the lower level, totaling over $15000 of work. After stringing me along for five months I get this email: Email August 27, 2018: “After a lot of thought this weekend I’ve chosen not to do your decking project. I wish you luck in finding a different contractor. Thanks, “ --No phone call or explanation! Until… After I sent an email, September 19, 2018, to the president Elizabeth, I got a phone call from Carl. It was still all about him and all about his jobs he has and wanted to talk about my cancelation, which was only one to his five! (Which for my cancellation didn't matter, as it rained that day). His explanation included a statement: “I should have walked away from your job in the beginning when you wanted to be home when we did your work”. He expected me to trust Homework’s of Batavia, having never worked with them in the past. No way! Because he didn’t do what he said he would do and it was still all about him. Buyer Beware: No work address, only a cell phone number, Gmail email, and wife who is the president. If he has a more lucrative job or you want to observe while they do the work, your project may get cancelled

JONDEC PAINTING
John Van Groningen replied promptly to our request for an estimate. He was very professional and friendly. We discussed our requirements and expectations of the project. John went to each room and measured the areas to be painted/redecorated. We discussed paint finishes and requirements in detail. Subsequently we received a detailed estimate. A project manager was assigned to our project. Barb, the color consultant/interior designer, came to our home within a week. She helped select colors and finishes to complement our furnishings, trim and flooring. My wife was very pleased to have her expert advice. The crew and supervisor arrived on time as scheduled. Actually, two crews arrived since one was not able to work on an exterior job due to inclement weather. So we had about eight painters in our home at once. The job which was scheduled to take 4-5 days only took 2 1/2 days. The crews worked very efficiently and neatly throughout the project. Everything was covered, furniture moved as needed, window treatments removed and reinstalled. No drips or spills. Excellent result. At the end of the project the work was inspected room by room by an office staff person to ensure quality. Best experience we've ever had with a painting contractor. I would use them again and I would recommend them highly to others
