Price’s Collins honored as Leader of the Year

George J. Collins, president and chief executive of T. Rowe Price Associates Inc., last night was named the 1996 Business Leader of the Year.

The award was presented to Mr. Collins by the Sellinger School )) of Business and Management at Loyola College at its annual award dinner in Baltimore.

The award recognizes Mr. Collins’ achievements since he joined T. Rowe Price in 1971.

Under his leadership, T. Rowe Price has grown to become one of the nation’s largest no-load mutual funds, with $75 billion in assets under management. The company has annual revenues of $439 million and net income of $75 million.

Mr. Collins became president and chief executive officer of the mutual fund company in 1984. In December 1995, he unveiled a major expansion plan in Owings Mills that will add up to 700 new jobs by 1997 and 1,000 more over the next 10 years as the project is completed.

Mr. Collins is a graduate of Virginia Military Institute and he holds a master’s in business from American University.

He is a member of the Board of Sponsors of the Sellinger School.
