“Friends” (8 p.m.-8: 30 p.m., WBAL, Channel 11) — Laraine Newman (Remember her? From “Saturday Night Live?”) shows up as Phoebe’s mom, as the persistent Ms. Buffay continues the search for her father. NBC.
“The Rockford Files: Friends and Foul Play” (8 p.m.-10 p.m., WUSA, Channel 9) — This latest of the “Rockford” movies has Jim doing what he does best: getting himself out of a mess, in this case one he got into after a waitress friend is killed trying to find a murderer. This film isn’t up to the standards of the series, but James Garner is never a chore to watch. Also in the cast: Marcia Strassman, a k a. Mrs. Kotter on “Welcome Back, Kotter.” CBS.
“Lethal Weapon 3” (8: 30 p.m.-11 p.m., WMAR, Channel 2) — Mel Gibson (without the face paint) and Danny Glover return as everybody’s favorite shoot-’em,-up-real-good cops. ABC.
“Caroline in the City” (9: 30 p.m.-10 p.m., WBAL, Channel 11) — Guest stars Elizabeth Ashley, John Ratzenberger and NBC President Warren Littlefield liven up the proceedings as Richard’s mother pays a visit. NBC.
“ER” (10 p.m.-11 p.m., WBAL, Channel 11) — Dr. Lewis and her sister, Chloe, continue their battle over little Suzy. NBC.

“Who’s the Boss?” (9: 05 a.m.-9: 35 a.m., TBS) — Trip back in time to the series premiere, when Alyssa Milano was still a sweet young thing (seen any of her movies on cable recently?) and Tony Danza was wondering if he’d ever have a job again after “Taxi.”
“The Real West” (1 p.m.-2 p.m., repeats 6 p.m.-7 p.m., History Channel) — Just because a film has little to do with the real thing doesn’t make it any less of a movie. “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” had little, if anything, to do with the real things, as discussed here, but it’s still a wonderful movie.
“Gorilla at Large” (8 p.m.-9: 30 p.m., repeats 4: 30 a.m.-6 a.m. tomorrow, AMC) — A young, very beautiful and very conniving Anne Bancroft is among the stars of this 1954 cheapie about a carnival gorilla and assorted schemers and two-timers. Not un-fun.
“Jay Leno Uncut” (8: 30 p.m.-9 p.m., E!) — Jay Leno is everywhere; he was even a scheduled presenter on last night’s Country Music Awards. See if the hardest-working man in show business has anything new to say during this interview.
“27th Annual Dove Awards” (9 p.m.-11 p.m., Family Channel) — Michael W. Smith is the host of this annual salute to the best in Christian music. Other scheduled performers include Point of Grace, CeCe and Delores Winans and DC Talk.
“Citizen Kane” (9 p.m.-11: 30 p.m., TCM) — You have to be told why to watch this film?
“Late Night with David Letterman” (10 p.m.-11 p.m., E!) — It’s Forrest and Da Mick, as Tom Hanks and Mickey Mantle are Dave’s guests on this repeat.
