BeMoreCaring is in the business of giving back. On Saturday, the nonprofit delivered $1,000 to the fellow givers of Hands and Feet for Jesus Ministry.
The two groups, which help those with limited resources get food, shelter and material items, have worked alongside one another for more than a year.
“We so admire the ladies from Hands and Feet of Jesus,” BeMoreCaring founder Josh Handschuh said. “They serve day in and day out tirelessly. They’re constantly working on how they can get food and organize it and get it to everybody.”
Hands and Feet played an integral part in helping BeMoreCaring become established in Anne Arundel County. On Saturdays, the two combine forces to bring a popup offering of items such as a hot meal, clothing, pet food, tents and blankets to folks who visit behind Bruster’s at the Harundale Plaza.
Ten years ago in the pouring rain, Hands and Feet began with Janet Hayes and Kathy Hodges Snow distributing food in front of Harundale Presbyterian Church — one truckload of pastries and vegetables, which were laid on tarps. A one-dollar taco was purchased for each person who showed up looking for help.
“They hate being in the limelight, so not a lot of people know what they do,” Handschuh said. “Over the past year and a half we’ve got to know them and really love them.”
Hayes and Snow said their work simply is what they love and think most about, with lots of discussion about how and when they’ll get more food. Handschuh said the two know how to make supplies stretch, but many times use their own money.
With additional volunteers and combined with BeMoreCaring, Hands and Feet regularly serves more than 100 people at a time. Scripture, Bibles and prayers always are offered.
Volunteer Jan said the food is extra — the group just wants participants to know Jesus loves them.
Handschuh said BeMoreCaring’s recent fundraising efforts gathered a bit more than they hoped and he is convinced the ministry should give back. He said people or organizations who are put in the nonprofit’s path and are doing good things are his targets.
Handschuh said it’s been wonderful to come alongside Hands and Feet, describing it as the privilege to take some of the pressure off.
“They really do go down in my hall of heroes,” Handschuh said. “They have been serving for years and years without fail.”

Coffee house concert
The SNL Coffee House concert featuring Holy Smoke will be held 7–10 p.m. Saturday at North Glen Community Church, 508 W. Furnace Branch Road.
Doors open at 7 p.m., with music 8-10 p.m. Merchandise will be available for purchase, and kids’ activities will be offered. Participants can bring a dish to share.
The band has been described as a collision of inspiration and thought provoking music and lyrics. The concert is free, with donations welcomed to support the band’s ministry.

Crime Watch meeting
The Citizens Against Crime quarterly Crime Watch Meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. June 20 at (Christ the King) Holy Trinity Church Hall, 7434 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd.
Guest speakers will be States Attorney Wes Adams, Anne Arundel County Police spokesman Sgt. Ryan Frashure and his service dog, Comfort, as well as Lisa Hart, assistant vice president business community development coordinator from Arundel Federal.
Hart will give a presentation on 10 things to do to avoid fraud. Additionally, county police Det. Joe Goldberg of the Fatal Overdose Section will be on hand. All are welcome to attend.

Specialty camps at Faith
Faith Baptist Church, 7378 E. Furnace Branch Road, will host two specialty camps this summer.
A music camp will be offered at 3–7 p.m. July 8 and 10 a.m.–2 p.m. July 9–11 for kids who have completed grades one through five. Children will learn a Christian musical, capped with an evening performance July 11.
Cost is $15 per child through June 24, when the cost will increase to $20. The fee includes a t-shirt, rehearsal CD and pizza on Sunday. Children are requested to bring a bagged lunch and beverage for the other days. For more information, email [email protected].
Mega Sports Camp will be offered 6–9 p.m. July 22–27 for kids ages four to eleven. Kids ages four and five will participate in Sports Basics. Kids ages six to eleven can select a sport or choose art or drama. The event is free.

Tuesday Nights Out
Michael’s Eighth Avenue, in the garden at 7220 Grayburn Dr., will host Tuesday Nights Out beginning at 5 p.m. Tuesdays June 12-Oct. 23. The events will feature a variety of food trucks, live music from local bands and children’s activities.

Ice cream social
The Glen Burnie Improvement Association, in partnership with Bruster’s and Tavik’s Tie Dye Shirts, will host its annual ice cream social 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Third Ave. Park at the end of Third Ave. S.W.
The event is free. Participants can bring a clean, white t-shirt to dye, and also can meet members of the Anne Arundel County Police Department. The rain date will be Thursday.
