Tommy Pearce will see if his knack for reviving men’s lacrosse programs can cross state lines.
After eight seasons as the head coach at Frostburg State, Pearce has left to become the first men’s lacrosse head coach at Allegheny College in northwestern Pennsylvania. Pearce said in an email on Monday morning that he left the Bobcats on Friday, but declined to comment further.
Pearce was hired in the summer of 2009 to lead Frostburg State when the university reinstituted men’s lacrosse after a 30-year hiatus. The Bobcats went 85-62 under him.
After a 1-15 combined record in the Capital Athletic Conference in 2011 and 2012, the program has had a 27-18 mark that includes appearances in the past six league tournaments and a trip to the title game in 2015.
Pearce will head a Gators program that was created in October. Allegheny’s first season is schedule for 2020.
