Poke Bowl, an Asian and Hawaiian fast-casual restaurant with multiple locations in Maryland, will open two locations in Baltimore this summer.

Current plans call for the Federal Hill location at 1040 Light St., formerly a Subway, to open sometime in July, with a downtown restaurant located at 10 N. Calvert St. to follow the following month, said owner Yunshu Jiang. The downtown location was previously a Quizno’s.

Jiang opened his first Poke Bowl in Cockeysville in 2017, and has since added locations in Lutherville and Bel Air. The restaurant allows customers to build their own Poke bowls (Poke, pronounced “POH-kay,” is a diced raw fish salad). Poke Bowl also serves sushi, soups and sushi burritos.

In recent years, poke has become a rising food trend, with poke shops popping up around the country. The Remington food hall R. House features Hilo, which also serves Poke bowls and sushi. PokéOno, a Philadelphia-based poke restaurant, recently announced it would open its first Baltimore location in Locust Point this fall.
