FILA apparel company doubles distribution space near Baltimore to meet demand from millennials

Apparel company FILA North America said to meet demand from new, younger customers it has nearly doubled its distribution center space in Pasadena.

The athletic apparel and footwear company signed a 10-year lease for more than 350,000 square feet of warehouse space next door to about 380,000 square feet of space it already occupied, according the company and the real estate firm CBRE Group Inc. This will allow the company to double its operating space and double its shipping capacity.

Company officials said the brand is newly popular with millennials, and the location near Baltimore allows FILA to reach customers in the Northeast, Southeast, and Midwest in two to three days through retailers including Urban Outfitters, Foot Locker and Barneys New York, as well as department stores and others selling sports gear.

The location in the Marley Neck industrial area of the Baltimore-Washington corridor is also close to the port of Baltimore.
