Guest speaker at Baust to help observe Pentecost

Pentecost Sunday will be observed at Emmanuel Baust United Church of Christ on Sunday, June 9. Longtime county resident Diane Flickinger will be the speaker for the 10 a.m. service. She is a graduate of South Carroll High School, Hood College and the Catoctin Association Lay Ministry School. A member of St. Paul’s UCC Westminster, she serves as liturgist and is on the Giving & Generosity team. She and her husband Richard own a dairy farm near Union Bridge.

Baust recognized graduates of the church family at the June 2 service. Suzanne Edwards and Felicity Erickson graduated from Francis Scott Key High School on Tuesday, June 4 and Will Wilt and Simone Staubs graduate from Winters Mill High School on Saturday, June 8.

Mount Zion to celebrate 163rd anniversary

Mount Zion Church in Finksburg will celebrate the 163rd anniversary of its founding on Sunday morning, June 9. The public is invited.

The congregation was started in 1856 as a community Sabbath School and later joined the Methodist Protestant denomination. In addition to the celebration of its founding the congregation will also celebrate the church season of Pentecost. Guest presenters are Dr. Joni Miller from Spiritual Geography and Brian Blake, assistant principal of Sharp-Lendenhall Elementary School in Baltimore City. The Sunday worship service begins at 9:55 a.m.

St. Ben’s offering free VBS starting June 23

St. Ben’s (free) Vacation Bible School (VBS) is scheduled to run June 23 through June 27. They plan to embark on an epic African adventure that engages the whole herd. At Roar, kids explore God’s goodness and celebrate a ferocious faith that powers them through this wild life. Pre-K through fifth grade are welcome. There is a dinner each night at 5:30 p.m. (monetary donations welcome but not required). The VBS follows from 6 to 8:30 p.m. T-shirts will be available for purchase. Ebenezer UMC to hold free VBS starting June 23

Ebenezer United Methodist Church will hold Vacation Bible School for children in preschool through middle school from June 23 to June 27 at the church, 4901 Woodbine Road, Winfield. Activities are from 6 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. each day. Dinner will be provided Monday through Thursday. In this year’s theme, “To Mars and Beyond,” children will experience the wonder of God’s universe on a voyage through space. The VBS is free. Faith Lutheran holding VBS beginning June 24

Faith Lutheran Church announces its Vacation Bible School, Miraculous Mission. The program will run Monday, June 24-28, 9 a.m. to 12 noon and is open to children age 3 through sixth grade. Kids will learn about God’s plan of salvation from creation to the cross. There will be Bible stories, games, snacks, arts and crafts, music, more. Church of the Open Door presents Neighborhood Bible Time

Neighborhood Bible Time begins Sunday July 7 and runs through Thursday July 11 at Church of the Open Doors in Westminster. It goes from 6 to 9 p.m. each night. for Children ages 5 through sixth grade. Buses will be available to pick up for this event. Westminster Baptist Church begins registration for VBS

A Vacation Bible School at Westminster Baptist Church will be held July 8-12, starting at 9 a.m. and running until 12:15 p.m. for ages 4 through fifth grade. Registration may be completed on line at discoverwbc.com. Learn exciting stories of Jesus’ life and miracles with fun music, crafts and games. Snacks are provided, we ask you provide any food allergies or health issues leaders need to be aware of on the registration form.
