UPDATED:

A man is dead following a home fire in Aberdeen, officials said Thursday.

Just after 1 a.m., the Aberdeen Fire Department responded to the fire in the 400 block of Manor Court, in a neighborhood a few minutes from Ripken Stadium, said Steven Hinch, assistant chief of the Aberdeen Fire Department.

“When our units arrived, the house was fully involved,” Hinch said. “There was fire coming out of pretty much every door and window on the structure.”

Firefighters had to work to quell the blaze before they could enter for any rescues, Hinch said. Because emergency medical personnel had been called to the home “on a regular basis” due to medical concerns, they were able to locate the occupant fairly quickly, Hinch said. He was found trapped underneath heaps of debris from the home’s collapsed roof, and pronounced dead on the scene, Hinch said.

No one else was found inside the home, according to Hinch.

In photos shared by the fire marshal at about 2:30 a.m., smoke billowed from the two-story home and its attached garage — a hollowed shell with no roof.

While the cause of the fire remains under investigation, officials haven’t recovered any evidence of arson, said Oliver Alkire, spokesman for the Office of the State Fire Marshal. The fire marshal will investigate the incident alongside the Harford County Sheriff’s Office.
