In response to a recent letter to the editor regarding the release of Brian Delen on his own recognizance, all I can say is that we weren’t at the scene, so we don’t know all the facts (“Man charged in shooting shouldn’t have been released,” Jan. 3).

I am disturbed by the fact that the victim might have taken such offense if Delen innocently referred to Meghan Riley Lewis, a transgender woman, as “sir” and then proceeded to pursue Delen as he was attempting to leave. Did she pose a threat? We don’t know. The truth will come out at the trial, and I have faith a jury will make the proper ruling.

Much like the recent case where a local security guard was found not guilty of shooting a “beloved soccer coach” who hurled a piece of a brick (a deadly weapon) at him (“Jury finds Baltimore security guard not guilty on all counts in murder trial,” Dec. 15), the media puts a biased spin on these cases prior to trial. Thank goodness the judges and jury do not buy into it and make the proper rulings.
