Here’s a roundup of high school varsity action on Wednesday, Jan. 17.

Girls basketball

Pikesville 72, Eastern Tech 17: Mariah Jones-Bey had an all-around strong night for the Panthers with 12 points, 11 assists and six steals. Bree Taylor had a game-high 16 points.

Dulaney 47, Carver A&T 33: The visiting Lions (8-2) beat the Bears (5-4). Tuesday, Dulaney will travel to Milford Mill and Wednesday Carver A&T will travel to Perry Hall.

Hereford 75, Woodlawn 35: The host Bulls (10-1) beat the Warriors (5-6). The Bulls were led by Lauren Kraft (18 points), Hannah Shehadeh (12 points) and Gabby Nieberlein (10 points).

Century 43, Manchester Valley 42: Raegan Edwards scored 10 points, including two three throws with less than a minute left that let the Knights hold on to beat the Mavericks. Harli Hamlett led Century with 17 points. Reese Kresslein had 10 points and four rebounds for Manchester Valley. Autumn Stottlemire chipped in nine points and four rebounds, while Emma Shaffer had seven points, six rebounds and five steals.

Boys basketball

Parkville 71, Towson 67: Tied going into the fourth quarter, the Knights earned the win with a strong fourth-quarter. Five Knights scored in double figures led by Anthony Council with 18 points. Chima Egeonu was right behind him with 17. Also, Mikko Persia scored 15, Kyliek Howard tallied 11 and Cam Alexander finished with 10. Quint Fryer led Towson with a game-high 21 points. Braden Renner backed him with 20.

Eastern Tech 72, Pikesville 59: Matt Foley and Adrian Pefianco each scored 16 points to lead the host Mavericks over the Panthers. Other top scorers for Eastern Tech were Jericho Wondeye (13 points), Jake Prior (12 points) and Prabhnoor Singh (12 points).

Manchester Valley 54, Century 51: The Mavericks races out to a 14-5 lead after one quarter and held on for the win. Brendan Luddy led Manchester Valley with 22 points and four assists. Carter Strohman backed him with 10 points. Braylen Williams had seven points to go along with a team-high nine rebounds and Will Cuneo finished with nine points and eight rebounds.

Archbishop Curley 60, Gerstell 55: Caleb Franze scored a game-high 29 points, but the visiting Falcons (14-5) fell to the Friars (7-6). Gerstell led 28-19 in the first half before surrendering the lead.

Mount Carmel 54, Gilman 50: The Cougars (16-6) beat the host Greyhounds (6-6). Mount Carmel has won four straight and travels to Mount Zion Prep on Saturday for the Bump and BMore tournament at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Gilman travels to Glenelg Country.

Severn 72, St. John’s Catholic Prep 51: The host Admirals (13-5) beat the Vikings (9-7).  The victory was the sixth straight.  Friday, Severn hosts Gerstell and St. John’s Catholic Prep travels to St. Mary’s.
