An accidental fire caused $50,000 of damages to a Harford County home Wednesday night, according to a news release from the Office of the State Fire Marshal.

Around 10:09 p.m. Wednesday, Level Volunteer firefighters responded to a house fire in the 3100 block of Harmony Church Road in Darlington, the release said. It took 35 firefighters to control the blaze in 5 minutes.

The fire caused $25,000 in structural damage and $25,000 in damage to the house’s contents, but no injuries were reported, according to the release.

The blaze, which started in the second-floor bedroom, was caused by the electrical failure of a space heater, according to the release.

When the occupants were downstairs, they smelled the fire, and one of them found the fire within their bedroom, state fire marshal release said. The occupant closed the door and contained the fire to the bedroom.
