As Bayern Munich contemplates a future that might not include Dutch center-back Matthijs de Ligt, new names are appearing on the transfer rumor mill.

The verdict? Talented center-backs won’t come cheap.

The latest to be connected with the Bavarians is Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi, who has just finished starring for England at EURO 2024 as one of Gareth Southgate’s regulars in the starting lineup.

Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas has the scoop, naming Manchester United first among the domestic suitors for Guehi:

The likes of Juventus, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are also thought have tracked his progress closely in the last year, as well as Newcastle and Tottenham. [...]

Sources with expertise in the transfer market have pointed towards Everton’s £70m demands for his England team-mate Jarrad Branthwaite as the kind of price range for Guehi at the least.

The Red Devils have been rumored to be in for Bayern’s De Ligt, however, while Bayern has been heavily linked to Bayer Leverkusen and Germany star Jonathan Tah.

Thomas reports that Tottenham Hotspur’s need at the position is not as hot, and that Palace is in a “strong” negotiating position — and may even be able to entice Guehi to stay and sign a new deal.
