              Our patient, ********* ******* (Aetna ID **********, DOB 6/12/83), received allergy injections and a ******** injection in our office on the same day (May 28, 2024). Aetna denied the allergy injections stating they were 'included' in the ******** administration. We submitted an appeal with records clearly showing the separate services (allergy injections for allergic rhinitis and ******** injection for severe persistent asthma). The appeal was denied stating the records do not reflect two separate services. Aetna has a long history of denying appeals and giving providers no further recourse - stating our ONE appeal is all that is allowed by Aetna with no further action to be taken. Because of this 'policy,' our office is forced to go through the BBB every time there is an appeal that was denied due to Aetna's lack of competence in processing appeals.

              If I could give zero starts I would. I needed to go to an urgent care, so I CALLED a representative at Aetna to verify which urgent cares were in network. The representative said that I could go to one that was 45 minutes away. I drove 45 minutes out of my way to go to this one particular urgent care when there are dozens closer to me. I was billed the out of network price, not the in network price. I called again, and was told that I would need to submit a dispute by mail. I submitted the dispute. They responded that they were standing by their original decision. I only went to this particular urgent care because an Aetna representative told me they were in network to then be charged the out of network price. Please don't tell people they can go to a provider if that provider is not in network. I don't have the money to throw away on out of network pricing. Thankfully my new job doesn't use Aetna. I will never use Aetna again.
