Another day, more transfers!

Juventus are in the thick of the transfer market, but with their financial situation still precarious, in order to afford what they think they need a couple of players are going to have to go. Whether as makeweights like Samuel Iling-Junior and Enzo Barrenechea (thanks, Wes) or as straight sales to add to the kitty, some sales are going to need to be made.

That’s been a problem the last few years. Beppe Marotta was—and still is—a master at selling, but since he was forced out of the club, his successors were unable to move players they deemed not part of the project anymore. Fabio Paratici was particularly hopeless in this regard.

With Cristiano Giuntoli at the helm, the hope is that this trend will reverse itself, and early signs are that the shift might indeed be happening. Reports are that he has already shifted one player that isn’t part of the future, and a few more could be on their way out as well.

Let’s take a look at some of the rumors around the team that concern sales.

Moise Kean heads to Fiorentina

We mentioned the other day that Fiorentina had significant interest in striker Moise Kean.

Today, that deal is almost complete.

Fabrizio Romano has given the deal to Fiorentina the here-we-go, and reported that Juventus will receive a €13 million base transfer fee. A few easily-obtainable bonuses can push that number up to €15 million, while some other stretch goals could push it all the way to €18 million.

Given the season Kean just had, getting that kind of package is actually quite excellent work from Giuntoli. As talented as he is, Kean is coming off a year where he didn’t score a single goal (although some ridiculous VAR calls did deprive him of a brace in the first half of the year), which for a striker is **checks notes** Not Good. For the front office to get a package that could be worth up to €18 million is deeply impressive.

The timing of the move is also good, as this is money that is likely to be poured right into the pending potential move for Kephren Thuram.

Serie A newcomers looking to Juve to bolster midfield

Hans Nicolussi Caviglia has had a rough go of it in his career. He had to come back from a serious knee injury several years ago, and last year finally earned his way back onto the first team roster. He made a few spot appearances in relief of Manuel Locatelli, including the Coppa Italia final when Loca was serving a yellow card suspension.

He was generally ok, but didn’t do anything like what Nicolo Fagioli did two years ago to force his way onto the team. With Thiago Motta arriving, Nicolussi Caviglia is definitely surplus to requirements and could be either loaned out again or sold this window.

Reports have emerged that newly-promoted Como, who are making their first appearance in the top flight in 21 years, have asked for information about the midfielder. For a team looking to put together a roster that can keep them up next year, Nicolussi couldn’t be a bad pickup. Things are still very preliminary, and it’s questionable whether or not the club could reach Juve’s €10 million asking price, but if they do it would be a good little boost to the budget.

Premier League club interested in Kostic

It’s no secret that Filip Kostic is no longer in Juve’s plans. The team tried to off-load him over the winter after his form cratered, but no team would reach their €15 million asking price.

But there are still teams that are tracking the Serbian crossing machine. Fenerbahce and Galatasaray were both sniffing around him in the winter but didn’t pull the trigger, and now there’s interest coming from the Premier League in the form of Crystal Palace.

That Palace could be sniffing at him is interesting, because they just hired Oliver Glasner, who managed Kostic at Eintracht Frankfurt, coaching him to 15 assists in all competitions as Frankfurt won the Europa League.

Moving Kostic might prove tricky given his age—he’ll be 32 in November—and his ineffective season a year ago. But if his old manager is interested in a reunion, it may grease the wheels a bit. We’ll need more developments before this proves to have more legs.
