Because Juventus and Federico Chiesa weren’t able to agree to any sort of contract extension at any point of the 2023-24 season, this was always going to be a possible outcome. There has always been two outcomes with this — Chiesa either signs a new deal or is likely to leave Juve no matter how much many of us dislike it.
And now, with Italy out of the Euros and Chiesa on a beach somewhere in Europe and enjoy some vacation time with his fiancee, it appears the more disliked option is coming to the fore.
Yes, by all accounts coming out of Italy, Chiesa will be sold this summer and Juventus will try to recoup some sort of money — an amount that is still not totally known — for a player that has yet to reach the same heights form-wise after his major knee injury as he did before.
So you can probably figure out where we spent a lot of our time this week.
