Draft Day News: Claxton, Anunoby to Sign Contract Extensions

Even outside of draft selections, it should be a busy day around the Association.

The NBA Draft is finally upon us!

While the Portland Trail Blazers and the rest of the league will be busy making first-round selections, Draft Day is also a hotbed for trades and other NBA news. The Blazers already got the party started by trading Malcolm Brogdon and picks to the Washington Wizards for forward Deni Avdija.

Wizards Move Up to Take George

The Wizards traded the No. 26 and No. 51 picks to the New York Knicks for the No. 24 pick, using it to select forward Kyshawn George from the University of Miami, per The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

Knicks Move No. 26 Pick to OKC for Boatload of Second-Round Picks

On the heels of that trade with Washington, the Knicks sent their newly acquired No. 26 pick to the Oklahoma City Thunder for five future second-round picks that span 2025 to 2027, Charania reported. OKC used the selection to pick Weber State forward Dillon Jones.

Nuggets Trade Up for Holmes

The Denver Nuggets traded the No. 28, No. 56 and two future second-round picks to the Phoenix Suns to get University of Dayton center DaRon Holmes II with the No. 22 pick, according to Charania.

Timberwolves Trade for Lottery Pick

After the San Antonio Spurs selected University of Kentucky freshman guard Rob Dillingham with the No. 8 pick, they traded Dillingham to the Minnesota Timberwolves for a 2031 unprotected first-round pick and a top-1 protected 2030 pick swap, Charania reported.

Nic Claxton to Sign Extension

Brooklyn Nets big Nic Claxton plans to sign a four-year, $100 million extension to return to the Nets, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported.

OG Anunoby to Re-Sign with Knicks

New York Knicks forward OG Anunoby plans to re-sign with the Knicks on a five-year, $212.5 million contract, according to Wojnarowski.
