The Portland Trail Blazers are excited to finally announce that Deni Avdija has been acquired by the team in a trade with the Washington Wizards for Malcolm Brogdon and the No. 14 overall pick in last month’s NBA Draft (which turned into point guard Bub Carrington).

The trade was made just before the draft, but it couldn’t become official until Saturday when the new league year began.

Avdija arrived in town for the Blazers and the social media team was there to document his arrival.

Avdija, 23, spent his first four NBA seasons with the Wizards after being drafted with the No. 9 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. While he started his career primarily on the bench, Avdija emerged into a key player for the Wizards, starting all 75 appearances he made. He averaged 14.7 points and 7.2 rebounds for the team.

Now, he joins the Blazers with a chance to be a reliable wing for Anfernee Simons, Scoot Henderson and Shaedon Sharpe to team up with.
