Cowboys QB Dak Prescott out of walking boot in new photo shared to social media - Dallas Morning News

No worries says Prescott.

Just a few days after Dak Prescott was seen wearing a protective boot, the Dallas Cowboys quarterback shared a new update to his Instagram Story.

In a photo reshared by Prescott on Saturday afternoon, the signal caller was walking boot-free. Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News reported that Prescott wore a protective boot on his right foot because of a foot sprain. A person with knowledge of Prescott’s health told The News the injury wasn’t serious and that he had worn the boot for a week.

Saturday’s photo was originally posted by Prescott’s girlfriend, Sarah Jane Ramos. Prescott added a caption to his story that read: “Just some Boot Boys in Mexico.”

Ranking top 20 safeties for 2024 NFL season: Malik Hooker Makes the top 15 - Jared Dubin, CBSSports

There was a long period of time where no Cowboys safety would have even sniffed the Top 15.

14. Malik Hooker, Cowboys

Seemingly past the injury issues that plagued him early in his career, Hooker has played 47 of 51 possible games since arriving in Dallas. He’s retained his abilities patrolling the deep part of the field, and during his three years with the Cowboys has gotten much better at defending the run. He doesn’t get his hands on the ball quite as often as he did during his days at Ohio State, but some of that is because opponents don’t test him all that often, preferring to throw elsewhere against Dallas.

5 players who are definitely entering their last year with Cowboys - Sayre Bedinger, The Landry Hat

Enjoy these names while they are still wearing the star.

4. DeMarcus Lawrence, edge

DeMarcus Lawrence is a four-time Pro Bowl selection for the Dallas Cowboys who could be one of the next veteran casualties of the team’s salary cap situation. We saw longtime Cowboys starter Tyron Smith depart in the 2024 offseason for the New York Jets, and we could see Lawrence bolt in 2025 when he will turn 33 years old.

The Cowboys have sort of put the writing on the wall with this one. Not only do they have to get a deal done to keep Micah Parsons around for the long-term, but the Cowboys also have former second-round picks Sam Williams and Marshawn Kneeland on the roster. The selection of Kneeland, in particular, could give us our best indicator yet that the team intends to move on from Lawrence next offseason when it has the chance.

On a more positive note.

Running Back, Rico Dowdle

It is time to give Rico Dowdle his flowers.

It is also time to admit that the next two to three years are the Cowboys’ best chance to get production from him.

Running backs have a notoriously short shelf-life, and we can’t expect Dowdle to be the exception.

Luckily for Dallas, the tread on his tires is pretty light.

Heading into his fourth year on the Cowboys roster, Dowdle has just under 100 career rushes.

He is now on a new one-year deal, but his market could explode after the 2024 season.

At age 26, he is in the perfect spot to enter his prime, even if it is short.

Dowdle brings a ton of energy, juice, and hard running to the Dallas offense, and now is the time to utilize that.

While much has been made about the return of Ezekiel Elliott, the true RB1 spot belongs to this kid.

Elliott can play a fine veteran role blocking and catching.

But Dallas must get the most out of Dowdle before it is too late.

Cowboys 7th-round pick could be surprise impact player in 2024 - Randy Gurzi, Sports Illustrated

Keep an eye on Justin Rogers.

Justin Rogers looks the part, Cowboys need him to develop in a hurry

Rogers looks the part, standing just over 6-foot-2 and weighing 330 pounds. He also knows how to keep his pad level low and win with leverage — while not being afraid of using his hands against opposing offensive linemen.

He spent three years with the Kentucky Wildcats, where he had 60 tackles and three sacks. Rogers transferred to Auburn for his final season in the NCAA and added another 17 tackles and one sack.

Rogers didn’t fill up the stat sheet and isn’t going to put up highlight-reel plays. What he can do, however, is clog up the running lanes, something he did often in the SEC which is no easy task. For the Cowboys, that’s exactly what they need after losing Johnathan Hankins in free agency.

It’s never a guarantee that seventh-round picks make the roster but Rogers feels like a lock since he’s exactly what this defensive line needs. He could also be in for an impactful role as a rookie, especially early as Mazi Smith is still working his way back to full health following shoulder surgery in the offseason.

Cowboys offseason countdown: 99 facts until the regular season (Day 63)- Mike Poland, Blogging The Boys

The season inches closer.

We are at day 63 of our 99 day countdown until the regular season. Here is your daily fact associated with number 63.

The longest field goal in Dallas Cowboys franchise history is 63 yards.

Brett Maher, born on November 21, 1989, played college football for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He was undrafted, and following his time with the New York Jets in 2013, he went on to join the Dallas Cowboys. However, Maher was later released after Dan Bailey was ready to return to the team.

Maher went on to compete for several teams in the Canadian Football League prior to his comeback to Dallas in 2018. Then on September 1st, the Cowboys surprised everyone by releasing Bailey and making Maher the team’s starting kicker. Maher made his NFL debut in the season opener against the Carolina Panthers, where he missed his first career field goal attempt from 47-yards. However, Maher then went on to make fifteen straight field goal attempts, including a 38-yard game-winner as time expired in a 26–24 comeback victory over the Detroit Lions, earning him NFC Special Teams Player of the Week. Maher also kicked a new career-long 62-yard field goal against the Philadelphia Eagles, setting a franchise record and tying for the third-longest in NFL history.
