Chargers Safety Tre Boston Signs With Agent Drew Rosenhaus

Last offseason, Tre Boston signed a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Chargers and will be an unrestricted free agent when free agency begins. Boston had already given the impression that he was more than willing to test the market with his comments about wanting to play for a contender and “big business moves.” Well, now, according to Twitter, he has signed with sports agent Drew Rosenhaus:

It’s safe to say Tre Boston will not be accepting a below-market value short-term deal this year. He is likely looking at a four or five-year deal at an average annual value that will greatly exceed what he made in 2017. And while he is a competent free safety in coverage (PFF loved him), he is a poor and not terribly willing tackler. He is still in his physical prime (he will be 26 this season) and 2017 was his best season, but the Chargers under Tom Telesco have never shown a willingness to pay up for a safety, so it seems Boston could be moving on this offseason.
