Joe Mazzulla is just having a good time, y’all.
The 35-year-old’s meteoric rise from an assistant with the Maine Red Claws to NBA champion head coach of the Celtics officially completed on Monday. After a quick hop down to Miami to celebrate with his team, the native Rhode Islander was back in Boston on Wednesday.
With two nights before the championship parade on Friday, he decided to take the Larry O’Brien Trophy for a spin through the city’s North End, sharing it with whomever he came across, be they fans or famous restauranteurs.
