Saint Joseph’s men’s and women’s teams eyeing Atlantic 10 titles

Both the men’s and women’s soccer teams at Saint Joseph’s remain in contention for an Atlantic 10 title entering the weekend.

The women’s team is one win away from playing for a conference title and an NCAA Tournament berth. They take on Massachusetts in Dayton, Ohio today at 1 p.m. looking to continue their stunning late season run.

The Hawks (6-11-2, 5-5-0) started the season winless in their first nine games with a pair of scoreless draws but were able to squeak into the postseason as an eight seed with a 4-5-0 conference record after beating VCU 1-0 in the regular season finale. They followed that up with another 1-0 win over the top-seeded VCU and face No. 4 seed UMass today.

No. 2 Dayton faces No. 3 Saint Louis in today’s other semifinal.

The Saint Joseph’s men’s team is hosting an Atlantic 10 tournament match for the first time ever at Sweeney Field on Sunday at 2 p.m.

The Hawks (8-8-1, 5-2-1) earned a third seed after going 3-0-1 in their last four Atlantic 10 contests. They’ve gone 5-0-1 in all competitions since losing to Saint Louis in double overtime at home on October 6.

They’ll play No. 6 Duquesne, which they beat at home 3-1 on October 16.
