How to Watch: Temple soccer kicking off their seasons on ESPN+

The Owls men’s and women’s soccer teams both take the field this weekend for the first time since last fall

The long wait is finally over.

After 451 days since Temple last played a competitive soccer match, the men’s soccer team will be taking the field tonight in Tampa to take on South Florida to start the 2021 season.

The match will be broadcast live on ESPN+ at 7 p.m.

The team is coming off an 8-8-2 season in 2019 that included an American Athletic Tournament win over Memphis. They lost 5-0 to UCF in the tournament their last time out on November 13, 2019. The Owls are led by AAC preseason Defender of the Year Pierre Cayet and preseason all-conference forward Sean Karani, a Sporting Kansas City Academy alum.

South Florida features Philadelphia native Josue Monge and Freddy Gil, who are both Philadelphia Union Academy and YSC Academy grads.

The Temple women’s team, which last played on October 31, 2019, will open their season on the road at St. Joseph’s at 1 p.m. in a match that will also be broadcast live on ESPN+. Details about whether spectators will be permitted have not been announced.

Sunday’s match will be the first for new head coach Nick Bochette, who was hired last January. The Owls are coming off a 5-9-5 record in 2019, closing out the campaign with a 1-1 draw at UConn. They are led by senior captains Arryana Daniels from Wilmington, Del. and Julia Dolan from Egg Harbor City, N.J. along with junior goalkeeper Kamryn Stablein from Orwigsburg.
