Playoff Projection, Title Contenders by WS/48 and BPM

You are trying to build a contender.

That takes having a top 3 piece or a player with the potential to be one or a team really well built. The player need to at least be showing up around top 10-20 in rankings like WS/48, BPM, VORP. If you have multiple pieces there, even better. But one best piece if worth a lot come title winning time.

Boston has the best record. But its not clear they have a top 3 piece. But they have several top pieces that rank well playing together.

By WS/48 they are
KP 6th, Tatum 13th, White 22nd, Horford 24th, Pritchard 42nd, Holiday 46th, Hauser 49th, Brown 60th

By BPM
Tatum 11th, KP 18th, White 22nd, Horford 24th, Holiday 42nd, Hauser 56th, Brown 68th

That might be enough by volume. A well built team.

Joker leads the league in all of WS/48, BPM, VORP

Luca, SGA and GF are the next 3 highest ranked and I would view their teams are dangerous come playoff time. Specially OKC who is top 2 in team TS and top 6 in defensive eFG%

But team with combinations can be dangerous as well. DEN is the team to beat.

By BPM
DEN Joker #1, Murray 30th
DAL Luca #2, Kyrie 17th Gaff 44th - that could be dangerous
MIL GF #3, Lillard 44th
OKC SGA #4, Holmgren 30th - young so experience will be a factor this year

LAL LeBron 7th, AD 11th - Thats always going to get you into the fight.
LAC KL 10th, Harden 21st, PG 34th - they are a threat
BOS Tatum 11th, KP 19th, White 22nd, Horford 24th, Holiday 42nd, Hauser 56th, Brown 68th

Could get out of the first round
IND Hali 5th, Topin 76th, Turner 88th - not enough help to be projected dangerous
SAC Sabonis 6th, Fox 48th - not enough help to be projected dangerous
CLE D Mitch 8th and J Allen 33rd LeVert 97th - not enough help to be projected dangerous
NYK Brunson 9th DiVincenzo 25th Randle 52nd - not seeing it. But a good start

PHI if Embiid played enough games to be ranked. I'll use his last year numbers
Embiid 2nd, Maxey 38th Reed 103

That the teams with a top 11 BPM player.
GSW Curry isn't until 13th Klay 129th
PHO KD isn't until 18th with Booker 37th and Beal 138th

GSW and PHO seem out of the core players but they are vet good players so you never know.

For what WAS could look like using this year data
KP 18th, Gaff 44th, Beal 138th plus Deni

WAS Using Last year
KP 19th, Beal 54th, Gaff 73rd

Projected I'd think Beal here in his old role would be more like last year Beal ranking. Gaff improved.

WAS Projected
KP 18th, Beal 54th, Gaff 44th plus Deni developing into more this year Deni

That should be somewhere in the ORL, MIA, IND range. In the first round decently above .500 playing a similar ranked team so maybe getting out of the first round. I wish that is what we got to see this year instead of this trash.

Then you could think about trades or tanking after that. Sell high. Make moves from a position of strength. Beal and KP would be happy to stay, as they were. And very likely worth more after showing well in the playoffs.
