- Beloved Hollywood couple Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are well-known for their relentless trolling and pranks against one another.
- In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Lively called Reynolds her "best friend."
- Research shows that considering your partner to be your best friend is one of the surest ways to have a long, successful marriage.
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are easily one of the most beloved couples in Hollywood. But they are more well-known for their pranking, trolling, and various other hijinks against one another than any particularly romantic displays of affection. So, when Lively revealed in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight that she considers Reynolds to be her "best friend," it was a rare —but welcome — insight into what makes their relationship a successful one.
This news may have been slightly overshadowed by the fact that, in the same interview, Lively said she's down to do a third "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" movie. But the "best friend" thing is important too, especially if you have been shaken by the recent onslaught of other celebrity couple splits.
According to a study from the National Bureau of Economic Research in Canada, people who consider their partner to be their best friend gain more benefits from marriage than people who don't. This is because, in general, marriage tends to offset the "dip" in quality of life that occurs when people reach middle age, so people who gain more benefits from marriage are happier in both their marriage and, as a result, their overall life.
Of course, there is no way to know for sure what will happen exactly throughout the course of Lively and Reynolds' relationship. But, for now, all their fans can rest assured that all signs point to it being one that is long and happy — and, most likely, filled with its fair share of trolling.
