Justin Timberlake is reportedly "feeling remorseful, ashamed, and humiliated" after being arrested and charged with a DWI, according to a source.
According to a source acquired by Entertainment Tonight, the "Can't Stop the Feeling!" singer "doesn't believe he needs help when it comes to alcohol," and the incident which has gained significant attention was a "major lapse of judgment."
On June 18, Justin was arrested just after midnight in the Hamptons and charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI).
NBC News reported that police officer Michael Arkinson pulled over Justin for allegedly driving through a stop sign and failing to stay on the correct side of the road. The complaint stated it was "ascertained that the defendant was operating said vehicle in an intoxicated condition in that his eyes were bloodshot and glassy, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath, he was unable to divide attention, he had slowed speech, he was unsteady afoot, and he performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests."
Following the arrest, Justin was arraigned hours later at the Sag Harbor Village Justice Court in New York. A spokesperson for the court told CNN that Justin will appear in court on July 26.
Justin reportedly claimed he "had one martini, and [he] followed [his] friends home."
Regardless of the details of the evening, the incident has greatly affected Justin. "This situation has taken a toll on him, but he is trying to view it as a way that he can reset himself," the source said, per ET. "He does his best to set a positive example for himself, [Jessica Biel], his family, and the public, and will continue to try to learn and grow."
"He is taking this seriously and recognizes how it can impact his family dynamic as a husband and father, and his fans, too," the source continued.
Unfortunately, for the fans and court of public opinion, the incident and his mugshots have already become memes and the center of jokes on social media.
