We only had one Owen Hart Foundation Cup Tournament match on the June 26 Dynamite, but more on that in a minute.
The really intriguing bit about the tournament came from AEW Executive Vice-Presidents Matthew & Nicholas Jackson, aka The Young Bucks. In addressing that The Acclaimed won a shot at their World Tag titles last week, The Bucks reminded us that not only are they champions, but their Elite teammate Kazuchika Okada holds Continental gold, and after Sunday’s Ladder Match at Forbidden Door, they believe Jack Perry will hold the TNT belt.
But that’s not all. The EVPs also revealed that they’re the ones who entered a “Wild Card” in the Men’s Owen. And of course they think that mystery person (who you have to think is Hangman Adam Page) will not only beat Jeff Jarrett next week, they’’’ then defeat Jay White (who beat Rey Fenix tonight… told you we’d cover Dynamite’s Owen match) and ultimately go on to win the Cup. In The Bucks’ vision, their mystery entrant will head to All In and use the title shot that this year’s Owen winner gets to bring the World championship into The Elite.

That wasn’t the only Elite news on the Forbidden Door go home episode, either. The Acclaimed took the ring to talk trash about the team they’ll face for the tag belts at an as-yet-undetermined date, with the production truck bleeping out every time Max Caster called Matthew & Nicholas “The Young Cucks”.
It brought out The Elite trio, with Okada changing up his catchphrase to “Scissor me, bitch!” The Bucks challenged The Acclaimed to a trios match at the June 30 PPV, which got Daddy Ass Billy Gunn on the stick to segue into a video from New Japan Pro-Wrestling President – and one of Okada’s greatest rivals – Hiroshi Tanahashi!
Calling himself “Scissor Ace”, Tanahashi announced he’s coming to Long Island to team with Caster & Anthony Bowens against The Elite this Sunday!
Did the EVPs and Kazuchika Okada bite off more than they could chew at #ForbiddenDoor?!
