Bryan Danielson’s final year will include an All In World title shot

The American Dragon survived an all out assault from Hangman Page to win the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament, so he’s headed to Wembley to face Swerve Strickland next month.

AEW is in Calgary tonight (July 10), back in the heart of Hart Country for the finals of the 2024 Owen Hart Foundation Tournaments.

The men’s final was up first on Dynamite, pitting Bryan Danielson against Hangman Page. Danielson wore pink in honor of the late Owen Hart, while Page spit at the Cup the winner gets along with a World title shot at All In — and at special enforcer Jeff Jarrett, a dear friend of the man the tournament is named for.

Once the bell rang, it didn’t take long for Hangman to target Bryan’s damaged neck. The American Dragon was busted open moments after that. Danielson, vying to main event at Wembley Stadium in what he’s told us is the end of his run as a full-time performer, fought through those injuries, and wouldn’t stay down for three after taking a Tombstone Piledriver from the Cowboy.

Bryan pulled some moves out of his past to get back into it...

... but ended up taking another Tombstone on the floor, which led to the medics checking on Danielson. Page didn’t want to take his foot off the accelerator, so Jarrett had to back him off.

The Dragon’s next comeback included a Busaiku Knee for his opponent, and another that inadvertently took out referee Paul Turner. After watching Hangman whip Danielson with a belt just like he did Jay White last Saturday, Double-J had enough when Page put it around Bryan’s neck. The enforcer revealed he had a ref uniform under his t-shirt, and the match went on.

Danielson managed to not pass out while trapped in a crossface, and after Jarrett confirmed he was still in the fight, counter into a bridging pin. One-two-three, and Bryan is headed to All In!

Dr. Martha Hart was out to present Danielson with his belt and Cup, and World champion Swerve Strickland followed to exchange stares with the legend who’ll try to take his title on Aug. 25 in London.

As a bonus, I think we’ll get a bloody war between Jarrett and Page in the coming months, too.
